@Jayfournines: How? Mongul on his own is a Superman-level threat, now he has Sinestro powers as well.

While Mongul is usually a Superman-level threat with Sinestro-like powers (note that this does not mean he has Sinestro's mastery of said powers), Bizarro is an actual Superman level threat, not only that, but unlike Clark, Bizarro would not hold back nor have any remorse whatsoever in killing his enemy.

Mongul is getting blitzed, burnt and who knows what else by a Superman who isn't pulling his punches.

@Joygirl: Well, I guess my opinion will matter here. My reason is because Mongul is a genius. Maybe not on the level of characters like Dr. Doom or Thanos. But, the guy is intelligent. He knocks around Superman, Green Lanterns, and Wonder Woman. Bizarro gets beaten up.

I'll go with Bizarro -- how will Mongul be able to guess what he's afraid of? His mind works kinda funnily.

Mongul Jr. as with prep he'd probably have Bizarro down to a t.

Plus unless the rings come off Bizarro is getting nowhere near him even at full power.

Mongul wins here, he is very intelligent and will undoubtedly utilize the prep time 10x better than Bizarro could, if there were no prep I'd give it Bizarro but since there is that prep period Mongul 8/10 IMO

@TheAmazingImmortalMan: Kay, just making sure. Mongul Jr. has always been a bit of an underachiever which made me think he'd be a solid match for the... challenged... Bizarro.

@Joygirl: Bizarro is a complete idiot so the prep automatically gives his opponent the advantage, I don't think it is a complete mismatch though

@TheAmazingImmortalMan: I wouldn't classify him as a complete idiot. As a mirror of Superman, he's actually brilliant -- it's not his fault that he's just wrong on a fundamental level.

Thing is, what will Mongul do with prep? He can lay out a battlefield maybe but he still needs a way to hurt someone of Bizarro's level of physical durability. Biz should also be significantly stronger and faster. His rings will help a lot... honestly, I'm not totally sure how this goes but I consider it to be very close.

Pre-Crisis he was. Post-crisis, not so much. Also, when people say Mongul, they often mean Mongul Jr, since Mongul Sr. has been dead for a good while, and Jr. looks just like him anyway (and technically just calling him Mongul is still correct; it is his name, as far as I know). Of course, this thread does specify it is the son.

Mongul Jr. is generally, IMO, pretty much at the bottom of the Superman tier. Supes has taken him out quickly and easily a couple of times, and Mongul has also had great trouble with enemies Superman has been able to defeat (the Imperiex probes come to mind).

The rings help him a lot though. Without them, I would say he has pretty much no chance of beating Bizarro. With them, his odds are a whole lot better. Not sure what he's likely to do with prep though; does he still have access to those psycho-plants?

@Joygirl: @ComicStooge: I always forget what they are called, but they are the things you see attached to all the GLs in the background of Mongul's pic. They incapacitate their victim by making him believe he is in a perfect paradise world where everything is great and wonderful. It first showed up pre-crisis, when Mongul Sr. used one to incapacitate Superman (later freed by Batman & Robin, and then they used the plant on Mongul, so they can affect even very powerful characters). At one point, Jr. had a whole planet of the things, but I think they all got killed.

Basically, I'm asking because if he could get even one of them attached to Bizarro, he probably wins.

I think they're called Starros, maybe.

Well then if they are an I-win-card then I don't think he's allowed them. The battle is close enough with just him and his rings, and time to study his opponent and battlefield (particularly when Biz will be using his prep to find which hole the square block fits into).

It will be close, with those 10 rings, and the prep Mongul should take majority is all I'm saying.....Biz wouldn't be a pushover, not at all, he is on supes level and while he does not hold back he is not smart enough to realize his full potential, Mongul would not hold back either he has fought Green lanterns and sinestro he is no slouch when it comes to fighting powerful opponents.

@TheAmazingImmortalMan: Six rings, not ten (same difference I know but still). :P Also, Bizarro is juiced on blue sun energy right now, which is gonna make him a little more powerful than the average Superman-level being. You are right that Mongul does have some experience with taking down tough opponents, and I honestly don't REALLY want to take a side even though I personally think Bizarro should win 6/10 or so. But I wanna keep a debate rolling.

yea I know I was thinking about the prep time when I wrote 10 rings but thx for correcting me anyway............wouldn't Blue Kryptonite make him "good-hearted" person making him more like Supes which means he is more likely to hold back, also it takes him up in intellect as well and IIRC the process scares Bizarro, I'm also going by the logic of Bizarro is Superman's opposite and Blue Kryptonite was supposed to be Bizarro's Green Kryptonite

oh misread :) if that is the case than I agree Bizarro takes this, sundipped Supes powers are vastly amped, if the blue sun energy does the same to Biz I don't see him losing

@TheAmazingImmortalMan: That was his answer to Mongul's six rings and more efficient preptime, was a vacation on Htrea (which has a blue sun *nodnod*).
