Hippo durability is going to be quite the trump card for him here. Hippos are already armored to go against penetrative trauma. I feel confident -- based on inferences from his durability feats by poachers etc -- that, well, an HIPPO probably doesn't have much too fear from a knife. It will not fear any weapon, except a Barrett 50 or a bazooka. Not even if its a knife wielded by a superhuman like Michael. Hippos can go against entire prides of lions without lacerations or even so much as a superficial abrasion.

You could argue that a full-power downward stab from Michael with a knife would be different due to the concentrated nature of the impact... and I would agree to an extent. Hipps would probably feel it in some way. But I'm not convinced it would break his skin. I suspect the knife's blade would chip or even shatter first and inevitably he would try be involved with into grappling the hippo. I'm someone who will occasionally indulge in pointing out the times where Michael's victims have gotten one over on him in close encounters. Like any slasher villain, he is inherently "inconsistent" in that way. But honestly? Hippo's fighting skills aren't much to write home about, either. Most of the times they just bullrush things with nothing but brute force.

Rob Zombie Myers is about the only one the Hippo could beat.

I think what really helps Michall s that he’s much smarter then an blinded by rage hippo in terms of tactics and fighting ability. I’m sure he’d be able to improvise a weapon capable of taking hippo down or grabbing an axe off the wall and cutting his head off. He should be already the same ballpark of physical strength as well, seeing how he’s able to rip off a steel door without trying. Hippo very much relies on pure physical strength while CM (Comic Michael) is a kinda tactical fighter with much higher reaction speeds.
