So I was looking for this one, but I was surprised that no one had already done it.....unless I didn't look hard enough. With that said...

Mewtwo
Mewtwo
Cthulhu
Cthulhu

VS.

Round 1: Standard Versions, no prep, Cthulhu ( Call of Cthulhu, Lovecraft), morals off

Round 2: Mewtwo- 5 months prep, Cthulhu (Click Here)

Round 3: Mewtwo Awakened, Cthulhu (Click Here .......again)

Bonus Round: Mewtwo Awakened, Cthulhu (Fan Made Versions)

So is this a stomp in anyone's favor?

Well with prep mewtwo was able to make clones that were significantly stronger than the original. If we take chthulus book lore then he should beat mewtwo. But then again chthulu got seemingly ko'd by a boat.

Personally abstracts or reality manipulators from pokemon should only be able to stop chthulu. Darkrai with the power of palkia and dialga or beyheem are notable reality warpers. I personally think Giritina would be a good fight against chthulu since giritina lives outside of time and space like chthulu does.

Dude, a mutant Pokemon versus Cthulhu? Maybe if it was Darkrai or an other OP legendaries could take him, but we have science versus dark, dark, dark Old Ones magic. I understand (mostly) the powers that Mewtwo have are based around psionic energies and whatnot, but Cthulhu is an Old One. He's part of a group that is so inexplicably old and is so wise and powerful....

In short, MewTwo MIGHT win with prep, however I'll just say....

Cthulhu Fhtagan.

This.

Also, is Cthulhu omnipotent? How is this even fair, not to mention against the rules.

Cthulhu has no canon due to being a public domain character.

You have to specify which authors' contributions to the Cthulhu mythos are allowed for the debate.

@dccomicsrule2011: No Cthulhu is not omnipotent or even close to omnipotence.

Azathoth is the true TOAA of the Lovecraft verse.

All of the other Outer Gods like Yog-Sothoth & Nyarlathotep are also more powerful than Cthulhu.

Ah, I see. I didn't know since I'm completely ignorant on the lore. =/

As a point of clarification; whether Azathoth or Yog-Sothoth is more powerful depends on the author. Lovecraft himself never mentioned anything on the topic (the idea of a cohesive mythos made out of his works came after his death) so any of the later authors were free to do what they wanted with it.

Didn't Cthulu get taken down by a ship in the original book? That's what I heard from some other cthulu thread.

Yes. The boat hit him and he turned into mist and had to go back to sleep from the impact of the boat hitting him. Lol

Yae he should have put some abstracts or reality manipulators in there to help mewtwo. Lol

@those_eyes:

Do we have any proof that Cthulhu is a reality warper? I mean the first round is just Call of Cthulhu feats, and in other threads, he didn't seem all that impressive, but that just might be me.

Honestly all I hear of feats is how he makes anyone go crazy from looking at him because he is inconceivable to process visually. I've heard he fought other creatures similar to him but nothing of feats to how he fought and beat others. His power is beyond imagination and he lives outside time and space. But with all that I don't think he has showcased anything beyond regeneration and making people go insane who look at him.

But wasn't that because they were only mere mortals? That's why they went insane.

Cthulhu from the books is kind of featless. Lovecraft was very deliberate in being vague about Cthulhu. If I remember right because I haven't read the books, lovecraft usually limited perspective to only what the main character knew. He was deliberately ambiguous so that people could do a lot with him.

Cthulhu rofl stamps.

Btw, no need to clarify that Cthulhu's morals are off. I'm pretty sure it, as a character, has transcended "morals", if ya catch my drift.
