I’d take Doctor Strange and call it a day.

My bank account would gain $35 dollars as well.

  • Wong or Strange solos with full knowledge and BFR allowed
  • Loki/Valkyrie/Heimdall/Sif would win alone, Quicksilver ensures it

These could be fun if they're harder

@bladeoffury: Like Quicksilver would ever take their weapons in an actual fight and their weapons don't have the feats to kill Thanos.

He wouldn’t need it. He‘s already gone toe to toe with 4-Stone Thanos.

@abdulboriy: Sure he would, given he has no other way of putting Thanos down. Even a standard asgardian sword wielded by a regular warrior cut through Hela

@eslay03: Even Iron Man went toe to toe with 4-stone Thanos, but Thanos beat a more powerful Iron Man along with the most powerful Thor ever and Captain America at the same time with relative ease. Thanos was holding back in Infinity War, while he was going for the kill in Endgame. One of the screenwriters for Infinity War said even if they managed to get the gauntlet off Thanos on titan, Thanos would have still beat them.

@bladeoffury: Who said Hela = Thanos in piercing durability. The Russo' said Thanos has near-invincible skin, and Thor needed Stormbreaker to kill him because if he didn't need it, then he would have just got a regular Asgardian sword-like in his battle against Hela.

@abdulboriy: Their blunt force durability being similar would suggest that their piercing durability is similar, as piercing is just blunt force applied to a small area. Even if we distinguish between these categories, Hela no-sold Asgardian gunfire, and I don't recall anything more impressive from Thanos in terms of piercing.

"Near-invincible" is somewhat ambiguous - I can totally see Hela being called near-invincible because no Earth weapons can harm her, for instance. As for the idea that Stormbreaker would've been unnecessary, it offers advantages other than being sharp, such as summoning the bifrost, lightning, and the ability to be controlled mentally. Its power was immediately shown to be useful in Thor's first encounter with Thanos after getting it, when it went through a blast from a fully assembled infinity gauntlet.

@bladeoffury: Do you think Strange can slice off Thanos' arm using a portal?

@bladeoffury:

Following Avengers: Infinity War, many Marvel fans had a common question after Thanos defeated the Avengers with a snap of his fingers: "Why didn't they just cut off his arm?" More specifically, it seemed Doctor Strange may have had a chance to do just that when fighting the Mad Titan on his home planet but he didn't. The only bloodshed from Thanos came after repeated kicks to the face from Iron Man. As it turns out, they might not have ever had the option to cut of that arm.

In a recent Q&A, Avengers: Infinity War andAvengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo explained why Doctor Strange didn't take the presumed easy route to stop Thanos. "Thanos' skin is almost impenetrable, we don't know whether Doctor Strange had the capability to do it," Russo said. "If he failed to cut it on time, Thanos would still able to do the snap. Doctor Strange realized this issue during his millions of test runs."

Joe Russo implied Strange's portals wouldn't slice through Thanos' skin, though his response doesn't give a definitive abswer, it should be obvious this is probably true else Strange probably would have done so when they had Thanos' restrained, rather than getting Iron Man & Spider-Man to try and pull it off.

Surely that's better than taking Asgardian Gunfire.

@abdulboriy: I think it’s sweet that you used this template and I hope it catches on

OT: Prime Thor ($15) and Dr Strange ($15) for my characters, for my perks I’ll use extra money for characters ($15), 1 month of prep ($5), full knowledge ($3), and telepathic link for my team ($1) and I’ll save the extra dollar for a rainy day

Thor ($15) and Quicksilver ($5) should be enough. Quicksilver can grab Stormbreaker and kill Thanos before he can react.

A cheaper variant of this would be Thor and Mantis ($4), but this strategy will be harder to pull off. Thor needs to engage Thanos, and Mantis needs to quickly put him to sleep while he's distracted. Then Thor can slice and dice.

You could argue that these strategies require prep though.

@deep_silver: The second option won't work because Mantis can't put Thanos to sleep, she can only keep Thanos occupied and needed people to hold him as well. There is also no way for Mantis to even get close to Thanos, it only worked on titan because Dr. Strange can teleport Mantis, and Thor by himself is getting wrecked by Thanos.

As for the first option, you can also argue that Thanos can react to Quicksilver since Thor was moving slo-mo in Quicksilver's perception and Thanos is faster than Thor. I also doubt Quicksilver is gonna take Stormbreaker from the beginning of the fight, he is likely gonna try to punch Thanos and mess up his own arm.

Star-Lord/Rocket Raccoon- $1

Mantis- $4

Quicksilver- $5

Hulk/Abomination/Fenris- $8

Telepathic link for teammates- $1

Full knowledge of Thanos' abilities- $3

1-week prep- $4

With prep should they come up with this plan: Everyone distracts Thanos while QS gets Mantis on Thanos. Then Hulk and Abomination hold on 1 arm each. Once they manage that, Fenris eats Thanos.

@bladeoffury: That really changes...nothing? Thor specifically calls out that they’re going to get a Thanos-killing weapon. It’s not treated as if any run of the mill Asgardian sword could do the job - instead of going to Nidavellir they could’ve scrounged the ruins of space for an old blade and that would work just as well?

Sure, Stormbreaker offers other abilities, but...none of that matters if an ordinary Asgardian blade could do the trick. Thanos was taken off-guard completely by Thor’s first strike.

Instead of firing a lightning bolt, then chucking Stormbreaker, he could’ve thrown an ordinary Asgardian blade without the lightning and achieved similar near-lethal effects? That’s not the implication the movie really gives.

@thebatmeme368: Well no it wouldn't work just as well because it doesn't have all those other abilities, and getting a clean shot on Thanos was extremely difficult due to his strength, skill, and hax. Even after getting hit by lightning, Thanos reacted in time to counter Stormbreaker with a beam from an assembled IG, so if Thor didn't hit him with lightning and threw a random sword, it would get annihilated or blown away.

The "Thanos-killing" statement holds weight, I think, but it's not definitive. It implies that it would've been difficult or impossible to kill him before, but that doesn't have to be due to his durability, again it could be the fact that he's stronger than Hulk and can turn armies into bubbles. I can reasonably imagine a similar statement addressed towards a speedster, for example. Even though a stray bullet can kill one, an attribute other than durability (speed) would make it extremely difficult. Still, I'd probably lean towards Thanos being able to take an Asgardian blade due to this statement, but then QS can go for vulnerable areas such as the eyes or mouth.

Too much money and win conditions with each person.
