MCU Thor's arena punch runs a gauntlet
@the_fallen_lord: Drax was a tough one for me, he's been hit with some pretty heavy attacks but were Koed by a lot of them, his one solid durability feat I remember was when he was being drug behind the ship in GoTG2 and was slamming into all those trees, which was pretty good, but something I felt everyone higher could do, idk
@tj849: A single Supes slap is not equal to this punch here.
Clark takes it but is staggered everyone else is KO'd
He laughs it off.
@standardized: That's not true at all Superman NEVER laughs
@sportjames23: HAHA!
On topic, he's not knocking out 8-10.
Let's not pretend that it KO Hulk or even come close to it, all it did is dazing the Hulk for grand total of 3 seconds.
Stop at Iron Man.
Stops at Superman. He is the only character here to take similar strikes and brush them off or tank them. No one else on the list has taken that kind of hit to the face or they have been put down by far weaker attacks.
Thor hits harder than Superman now? Steppenwolf took multiple punches and wasn't koed and Diana took two mean headbutts and delivered a third, neither one of them are going down to this
Probably the eight round, Diana tanked Doomsday's powering up.. which completely destroyed multiple buildings as collateral damage. Be that as it may Superman would probably give Thor SW treatment with a smile on his face, y'know Thor is massively outclassed in the speed-department. Thor would get knocked out instead of vice versa (it's not like it'll do much against Superman, he was hit by multiple superior punches "fts" from Zod yet he came out completely unharmed, unscratched so that punch knocking out Superman seems highly unlikely).
@manonthemountain: crap I didn't see steppenwolf. It stops at him
Stops at Drax or Loki
Steppenwolf or Clark.
Stops at Drax or Loki
Does Drax have any feats tanking an attack of that caliber? I'm not remembering any even close to that.
I like how there votes for character like Cap on here. Read the OP guys, they get in the face. Also, how can someone say the punch wasn't much when it created a massive shockwave and destroyed the surrounding area?
It's a pretty nasty punch, hence the very durable opponents on here.
The shockwave was caused by thunder, not the strike itself. Here's an excerpt from my explanation in another thread;
"Ninety percent of the electrical energy of lightning is released in the form of heat, which is quickly dissipated into the atmosphere. Less than 1% of lightning's energy is converted into sound and the rest released in the form of light. A sudden increase in pressure and temperature causes surrounding air to expand violently at a rate faster than the speed of sound, similar to a sonic boom. The shock wave extends outward for the first 30 feet (10 m), after which it becomes an ordinary sound wave called thunder. The speed of sound through air at sea level is 758 mph (1,130 feet/second; 344 m/second) at 68° F (20° C). Thunder is exploding air occurring along the entire length of the lightning channel. An average thunderstorm produces thousands of mi/km of lightning channel during its lifetime."
"Thunder contains a somewhat cylindrical initial pressure shock wave along the lightning channel in excess of 10 times the normal atmospheric pressure. This shock wave decays rapidly into a sound wave within feet or meters."
"Regardless of whether lightning is positive or negative, thunder is produced the same way. Thunder is the acoustic shock wave resulting from the extreme heat generated by a lightning flash.
Lightning can be as hot as 54,000°F (30,000°C), a temperature that is five times hotter than the surface of the sun! When lightning occurs, it heats the air surrounding its channel to that same incredible temperature in a fraction of a second.
Like all gases, when air molecules are heated, they expand. The faster they are heated, the faster their rate of expansion. But when air is heated to 54,000°F (30,000°C) in a fraction of a second, a phenomenon known as "explosive expansion" occurs. This is where air expands so rapidly that it compresses the air in front of it, forming a shock wave similar to a sonic boom. Exploding fireworks produce a similar result."
Shockwaves are disturbances in the air caused by pressure, temperature and density. As seen above, lightning heats up the air around it causing a shockwave. Thor's strikes produce force enough that the shockwave would propagate more than it usually would. With this said, I do believe Thor's punch helped the shockwave become as large as it was, but it wasn't the direct source of it. It doesn't matter how short the distance lightning has to travel, whether coming from the sky or Mjolnir, as long as it's involved, it should cause a shockwave. Shockwaves aren't always visible either, their presence can be known by the effects they have on things around them.
Stops at Superman, he knocks tf out of the others except maybe Steppenwolf and Diana.
Aquaman might be a little iffy. But yeah, outside of those people you mentioned everyone else gets crushed.
The punch was cool, but it barely did anything. It could stop at Drax or Iron Man.
Could stop at Aquaman since he tanked Steppanwolf's Axe which has hit harder than Thor's punch. Definitely stops at Wonder Woman though.
Well for starters Drax's blunt force durability is pretty high. He got a massive upgrade in GoTG2. I believe he tanked Atmospheric Reentry or somethimg then then immediately afterwards was slapped around into multiple trees and stuff while he was clinging to a spaceship. While I think Thor packs enough punch to knock out Drax eventually, I don't believe he can one shot him. Drag should remain standing after that arena punch. I also said Loki because I think Loki has pretty good mid end Blunt force and energy durability. He's physically not close to Thor but can certainly engage him for some moments. That means he'll probably remain standing too but gravely hurt.
Does Drax or Wonder Woman have a single feat of taking a hit that produced a shockwave? I am confused why people think they can take this hit
