@phillip33: Movie premiered today.
No reason for a lock unless the mods deem it's too early. And canonically stronger, my foot. "Word of God" by Stan Lee himself was that Thor beats Hulk because he's a god. Go make that argument in a Hulk vs Thor thread and get laughed out of CV.
If Carol gets the feats she wins. Otherwise, words are cheap.

As someone who knows the feats that she has, Carol hasn't got the feats to beat Thor in this matchup, unless she abuses specific powers.
@diarrhearegatta: That's a perfectly reasonable stance. I won't be watching the film in a while but unless she truly were to move a planet or something insane by live-action standards I never believed she's going to overpower everyone casually. However, that might shift depending on her part in Endgame.

Did you read leaks or watched the actual movie??? because reading isn't the same as seeing

As someone who actually attempts to look at things in a objective manner, I say she's simply doesn't have the feats to beat Thor yet.
I also watched the movie, but spectacle and reality are simply two different things. She looked impressive, but the practicality of her feats is another matter.

You and I have very different ways of looking at things I guess we will see what the general opinion on her power level in a few days
@alavanka : @ davidharewood14 : @cyberpunkcop : feat captain marvel.
She's by far the most powerful going by Word of God, she beats him easily.
Feige is talking out of his arse. Her feats in this movie simply do not justify her being anywhere near Thor. At least as far as this movie is concerned. Her physicals weren't that impressive either(Thor is physically stronger by a mile and strikes a lot harder). He destroys her if the fight goes H2H and SB swats away all her energy blasts like it did to the Full power IG. She is at disadvantage at both short and long range combat
Thor casually flies through her energy beams with SB and one shots her

I see word of god is valid in all cases. Except when talking about Thor's star feat. In which case, every pixel of the scene must be deconstructed and if it doesn't display 100% scientific accuracy, then the feat is street level at best. /comicvine logic
Let's wait and see what Captain Marvel does in her movie lol. If she's moving planets like Brie and Fiege were talking, then obviously she's stronger than Thor. If she's just blowing up space-ships, well that doesn't say much, and this fight is still competitive.
Personally, I think Word of God statements should be taken as valid unless explicitly contradicted by consistent evidence. Therefore, I see no reason to just dismiss Feige's statement out of turn just because we don't like it, but we should actually hold it up to what Carol does in the film to gauge whether or not her feats in the movie support it. And even if they don't, there's always the argument to be made that Carol will be more powerful come Avengers: Endgame (she will have had over twenty years to improve after all), and at that time will be the most powerful.
Not saying that Thor won't win, I just think we shouldn't act as though Word of God is worthless. As always what matters is consistency.
You know...the movie premiers on March 8th...
No it doesnt. The movie premieres on the 7th really
We have 3 different cast statements regarding Captain Marvel being the most powerful hero, and that's only from the interviews I happened to have read/watched. Wether or not she will be the most powerful in CM I don't know about, but brace yourselves for the Thor fanbase crying in Endgame. This is too exciting.
If the director's back it up Carol wins, but if I'm being honest she shouldn't be stronger than iron man really, being the king of asgard isnt some cheap title
@kgb725: Your point being? It's still not out.
Just came back from the theatre.
Carol blitzes him at FTL.
I am not joking. This is actually a plot point.
What are her feats? Would see the movie but I'm a white male :(
Your Briesplaining
Skill: Visually quite high. But she doesn't get a firm placing.
Strength: Catches the missile we see in the trailer, Overpowers it's engines driving it down through re-entry and throws it a kilometre-ish. Flies through Ronan's ships easily, the same ones that could tank barrages from Milano class ships in Guardians.
Speed: Travel speed is stated and shown to be FTL. Combat speed is iffy, she has two good feats in that area that are around MCU Quicksilver level. One is in the post credit scene.
Durability: Re-entry means nothing to her. Once she's in binary nothing hurts her that we see. Not energy blasts from ships, city-ish level explosions or flying through cruisers.
Energy projection: A single blast from powered down Carol was enough to destroy a star cruiser via domino effect. Honestly this is her one area that is lacking. Pretty much all of her decent energy projection feats are in the trailers.
