MCU Odin is kinda featless. All we have is hyperbole of his past achievement, but nothing much on-panel.

To be honest DCEU Zeus performed more feats like creating humanity on global scale with Amazons and Themescira covering in mystical fog. + 1 shoting rezedevioused Mother boxes which gave much troubles to MBs amped Superman and Cyborg to seperate ( Superman used brute strenght and Cyborg was absorbing or neutralising them )

@granitevision: I was mostly kidding bottom line Odin is featless unless theres some sort of flashback ever Superman stomps

Hela is still below Superman and we dont know if the Surtur he beat was amped by the eternal flame or not all vague statements

Thor is more powerful than Odin who is a statue to Superman, so the old man gets blitzed.

Old Odin has zero feats.

If you're talking Prime Odin then he wins via past feats and scaling.

@granitevision: Supes>>>Thor

Not by what we see on screen, in any case. In terms of hype thought: Undoubtely.

Thor, even before Ragnarok, holds something very much alike Superman in his hand. While Thor was wrecking ice giants in the first movie's opening, he was equal to Superman; As of post-Ragnarok, he is quite superior, IMO, and it's easy to see.

@strike3: Actually he has shown feats but in Hippolyta's fairy tale ( we know that only fiction is that Ares presence makes people bad, but fact is Ares lead up to wars ) but mankind, amazonkind, realm creation are really his feats + he one shoted resedevioused mother boxes and post Jl Superman and Cyborg ( who was also amped by MBs ) had great problems with it.

Truth. Odin in his prime did get the Eternal Flame from Surtur and defeated Hela and banished her. But that's all offscreen so we don't know all the particulars.

@gateofbabylon: scaling to what?

What statement feats does he have? Taking over realms? Not his feat, thats helas feat. Odin shit his pants and committed suicide just off the thought of hela coming for him.

Superman God-stomps hela.

By statements superman still stomps

Avatar image for nucleon

@milliardopeacecraft: No, Superman doesn't stomp anyone in Hela's league, much less godstomps. Hela cracks his skull like a rotten egg. Hela tanked about ten times what lil' Supes can dish and it didn't even broke her stride, whereas Supes was killed by a Hulk analogue. Supes dies a second time vs Hela.

Featless =/= powerless. Power is required to resist a punch, not feats. Odin can't be discussed on a board obsessed with super-speed as the ultimate power. Besides, isn't Odin an abstract? I thought debates involving abstacts were somehow shunned.

I would be surprised that a universe as Christian and conservative as DC's would admit that Zeus created mankind. Yeah, that's also what they say about Odin, but at least in their cases it's been pretty much debunked since the Eternals Saga.

Odin is featless bar statements. If he was in his prime, he would most likely stomp, given how he was basically the strongest god in all of the nine realms, which was proven by how he conquered each of them.

Defeating Eternal Flame Surtur (who was city size) and banishing Hela with ease suggests he's pretty powerful.

Dude we see Odin fight during the frost giant battle and he didn't even appear as strong as Thor. Pretty sure he took the eternal flame from surtur somehow since surtur talked about reuniting with the flame. And he didn't actually beat hela, pretty sure he did the same thing he did to thor.

OT: Clark stomps the old asgardian

Yeah, he took it by beating the poor soul up. Why do you think Surtur was so salty about losing? It's not like you can steal a massive crown from a city-sized being like that without having a fight.

@diarrhearegatta: you really think the guy that lost an eye to laufey and was absolutely helpless during the dark elves invasion is capable of going one on one with giant surtur? Odin seems to use one tactic in all his battles; he always steals the source of power, he did it to the aether and the casket, it's not out of the realm of possibility to say he siphoned the eternal flame from big surtur and then wounded the small version or you know, use the bifrost to take the crown off maybe?

Odin is basically featless, but the fact that he ever had any trouble with the Frost Giants (even losing an eye) suggests he's not an Superman's level.

Avatar image for diarrhearegatta

@DammeFavour: That was when he was way out of his prime, and clearly not as strong as he was. Prime Odin was capable of taking over the nine realms, and eradicating almost all of the Dark Elves.

The fact that he struggled with a few invading ships later on shows he got weaker.

He had trouble with Laufey, King of the Frost Giants. At this point he was of far greater power than when he had fallen and lost the Casket, which sustained his realm, gave him and his people great power, as well as being was potent enough to cover all of Earth in an infinite Ice-Age and to to challenge Asgard. I wouldn't consider that a low-feat, it assumes that Laufey was weak at that point.

@diarrhearegatta: lol did you even watch Thor ragnarok? Prime Odin was never capable of taking on the entire nine realms, he invaded the nine realms with his entire army together with hela and fenris. Odin didn't even take on the dark elves, that was his father.

Prime Odin fought the frost giants and that was even before Thor was born

Avatar image for diarrhearegatta

@DammeFavour: The fact that Hela was below him in status suggests that he was stronger than her, clearly proven when he was able to banish her and keep her stuck until he died.

Yeah, Odin still took out a prime Frost Giant empire with the Casket on them. Odin was basically one of the last soldiers who survived, which means that the battle must have been pretty damn brutal. That's a good showing if I ever seen one.

@diarrhearegatta: um maybe because he was her father and king of asgard? Do you even think before typing? He was also able to do the same to Thor by pushing him into the bifrost, how is that supposed to be impressive?

The casket was only used to make winter on a wide scale, it didn't actually amp the soldiers having the casket with them is supposed to mean what exactly? He wasn't the last soldier considering he wasn't the one who secured the casket.

Odin wins by statements and scaling (defeating prime Surtur and Hela). Superman wins by feats. Unless there are flashback scenes with Odin, this is probably how it will always be.

"You see, you never knew him, not at his best."

Prime Odin was implied to be a monster in battle. At the time of the Frost Giant war, Odin was fighting to defend Earth instead fighting solely to conquer like during his prime and the Frost Giants were at the peak of their power with the Casket of Ancient Winters. Odin still came out victorious so I wouldn't use that as an indicator that prime Odin was weak. He was weak during the Thor films, but still was solidly above Thor until Ragnarok. I do believe Odin was speaking the truth about Thor being stronger, but he was talking about his more recent state.

By hype and implementation (banished hela .. defeated and kept back full powered surter ... Supposedly thanos didn't start his quest coz of Odin.. conquered nine realms), this guy solos JL with ease ...

But he's kinda featless.

Let's put it this way, Odin's dead, so he ain't doing nothing anyways, and even when he was alive, supes swings his leg back, hits Odin in the nuts hard enough that hela and thor come out looking like inbred lab rats.....Odin in his prime, that would be a good fight. No clue who would win.

Odin lost an eye fighting Frost Giants and that too with the help of his huge army.

Superman alone could've slaughtered their entire race without bating an eyelid. He could heat vision the crap out of hoards of Frost Giants at any moment.

This is a mismatch. Superman godstomps
