She is skilled enough to beat aliens and superhumans without having the Berserker Staff. She is also physically stronger than Walker when neither fighter is enhanced.
If we’re being real here May outclasses him in overall skill especially with her showings. The only REAL edge Walker would have is his SSS physicals. However an argument can still be made for May. After all she’s fought enhanced individuals before I.e centipede soldiers, kree, etc.
Also the staff does make people go crazy but May has used it twice and was able to control it. So that’s definitely not going to be a factor here. It doesn’t effect her.
With the staff she stomps
Without it I say it’s 50/50
John without SSS however? Wouldn’t last a second against May though.
