Shang-Chi is either massively more skilled or way less skilled depending on how you view it. He transitions from grounded martial arts to wuxia seamlessly, and I'm not sure if there's some latent superpower there or not. And I'm not sure exactly what his aunt taught him in Ta Lo. Or how much the ten rings enhance his skill level. There are a ton of unknown variables with Shang-Chi's skill level imo.

But if you just take the scenes at face value and grade them visually, he stomps.

Shangi-Chi and its not even close.

Totally stupid. Not fair. Big mismatch.

Shang Chi even without rings is physically way way above Matt. His parkour and in combat agility are mind blowing. This isn’t basic “Daredevil does a flip kick” shit, Shang Chi has the speed and agility of a Kingsman character like Eggsy or Gazelle.

Shang chi was such a badass in this film. Close matchup but I think he takes it

Also Shang Chi uses Akido which kind of sucks, though I guess it's more how it's taught if you know how to fight you can use it, but most places teach it terribly.

Matt if no armor Shang Chi. Shang Chi if he gets armor.

If this is the original thread for this, I'll post my argument here. Shang takes this handily, as much as I love Matt.

Matt is constantly tagged by fodder, constantly coming out of fights bloodied, bruised, and half dead, and these are in fights against thugs, bikers, and soldiers. Shang was able to beat multiple 10 rings soldiers without being touched. Granted, Matt in the Defenders was much more skilled and able to dominate hand fighters easily, he still got beat by Elektra most of the time. The only named fighter we can really scale to Elektra is Wenwu, who outclasses her significantly in terms of physicals/abilities and is probably more skilled as well. Shang was able to beat him in their one real fight despite not even having the rings himself.

Matt will make Shang work for it, he has insane durability and refuses to go down, but the gap in skill is definitely noticeable. I don't think Matt's sensory abilities are even going to come into play here, he is constantly tagged by less skilled opponents (Bullseye, Punisher, Fisk), as well as highly skilled opponents (Nobu). Shang will have no problem tagging him and he's gonna eventually put him down through superior skill + strength.

@rbt: I notice that you credit Shang's stat's heavily to the armor, but Shang actually is legit superhuman when he uses the power his aunt has. Matt dies from palm strikes.

Yes, Shang wins if he gets wind powers as well.

Weng Chun is the Martial Art he uses through most of the film before learning the Airbending shizz, he also seemed pretty skilled with that staff and other weapons based on his fight with Death dealer.

@joker567892: I didn't say he only knows Akido. He's almost entirely Kung Fu, knows Akido, does some Tai Kwon Do stuff but it probably comes from Kung Fu training.

Is trained with bow staff which might be included in Kung Fu, or it's a seperate thing.
