KO

KO'd, if he kicks it like he did at Ultron probably worse.

KO'd, if he kicks it like he did at Ultron probably worse.

He did a double tap to pierce Ultron, throwing it as hard as he could, then kicking it back into the exact same spot. It's one of his most accurate shield attacks ever, but he can't create that damage with just one throw or kick.

Tanks it easily. Scientifically, Cap's shield throw doesn't pack any more damage than an average boxer's punch. This is the guy who took an Iron Fist to the face.

When and how was that measured?

It all depends. If it's a throw cap uses on people then it bounces harmlessly off. But if it's a iron sentry bisecting throw, then I can see that doing serious damage

Yeah, that sounds like a ridiculous and beyond false claim.

Cap can throw it his hardest and I wouldn't see Cage affected by it much. It would hurt though.

@nickzambuto:

Did the first hit actually damage and dent ultron? Because if not, then the material will return to full strength.

This is called the "elastic" region.

If Ultron's chest was not dented then the first hit had nothing to do with the second hit piercing.

@ldm: Unless your a bomb, or a plane, or some ice or a brainwashed buddy and a Spider-Man then you don't necessarily have to YIELD!!! He'll choose to take a nap cause the ice seems nice when captain america throws his mighty shield.

Cage got knocked out by a shotgun to the chin. Why is it difficult for Cap to replicate the feat, considering he absolutely destroyed an Ultron bot by throwing the shield while he was in the air? If he is grounded and has to put all his strength into the throw, i can see that knocking Cage out. But not a casual shield throw

How much russo force is cap throwing the shield with?

Avatar image for dre_savage

Cap has hit fodder humans with the shield and it knocked them out. If he were worried about it killing them, he wouldn't throw it. It obviously didn't decapitate them either.

Luke gets hit, stumbles back and then shakes it off.

Takes it like a hard thrown NERF Football to the face.

@bladeoffury: Scientifically, caps shield throw busted through the armor of a quinjet with just the ricochets. A quinjet in season 2 of AoS survived inside the bus when it was hit by AA missiles and exploded...the same quinjet fell towards the ocean, and survived the plane pieces falling on it right after.

Luke was ko'd and nearly killed by a shottie blast, and KO'd by Elektra. If you can provide enough concussive force or cause his head to accelerate fast enough you can K.O. Luke, just like anyone else.

Cap can apply both. Luke get's KO'd. If he just stands and tries to take it, he would be in serious trouble.

@dre_savage: Except he isn't worried about killing them. Why are assuming cap cares if they survive? He is a soldier fighting a battle. Also, he killed von strucker woth his shieldn straight out.

He only knocked out Von Strucker. Ultron was the one to kill him.

I understand that is the logical fact, but I'm confident what I described is what they were going for. The whole fight was about Steve using his skills to compete with Ultron. Being able to pierce Ultron in one go relatively easily makes Steve a brute; but getting through his durability methodically with a rapid triple tap showcases smarts, precision, and skill. Why else would they have Steve throw it, then immediately kick it back into the exact same spot, at the exact same angle, if the idea wasn't that he's gradually grinding it in there?

Personally, I think the smarts and skill to pull that off, while actually fighting Ultron, it's not like Ultron is standing still, is way cooler than the brute strength to just pierce Ultron in one go with ease.

And it's not like we really get a good look at Ultron, maybe he was being dented over the very thin line of the shield's edge.

@nickzambuto:

Sorry, but that's confirmation bias.

Even if you wanted to say that there was a tiny dent, the material, if it even has a split second to recover, would retain the majority of its strength for a tiny dent that is non-existent from visualization.

Let's just assume that cap kicking the shield generated more force then him throwing it as you can kick nearly twice as fast as you can throw.

If we're being honest, the shield probably shatters on impact.

But for real, Luke probably gets irritated. I'd imagine a similar reaction to the Iron Fist. More of an annoyance than anything. He wouldn't get tossed back though.

First shot, it won't do anything because Cap will hold back. Second shot, it will hurt or KO.
