Poll: MCU Abomination vs DCEU Aquaman (45 votes)

Abomination 58%
Aquaman 42%

Blood-lust on. Abomination gets a long chain made of Atlantean metal for a weapon. Everything else is standard gear.

The fight takes place on a crowded city street at night. No civilians, just cars.

Well...we all know the submarine feat will be used to justify this being a stomp. But this is actually debatable, esp with the chain weapon.

Abomination wins on land. He is a giant next to Arthur. He’s also just as fast or faster despite his size. Imagine trying to fight something like that. Also we know that his punches are much stronger than grenades so he can hurt Arthur.

Aquaman might win in water, but he needs that extreme mobility advantage.

Aquaman wins:

1. Abomination is not even as strong as current Hulk. Aquaman can give current Hulk a run for his money with his King Atlan gear.

2. This is post-solo movie so Aquaman should have his Trident, a Trident that has enough power to sink a landmass around country size (I've seen some some calcs putting it at continent lvl).

3. And his reaction time and speed should be superior to Abomination so the atlantean chain shouldn't be a problem.

Aquabro wins at least 9/10 times with the only danger being the chain.

Abomination = Phase 1 Hulk, a truly underrated character here.
Abomination could compete with DD, imo. He would lost but he can give a match to anyone in DCEU.

Aquaman is way stronger, with the submarine feat.

His trident should have no problem piercing abomination either.

Abomination has faster movement speed that's it........

@onlyoneempereor: oh I love phaae 1 Hulk. Particularly the design from the solo film is great. It's just Abomination can't really scale beyond the incredible Hulk film.

Abomination scales to 2012 Hulk by statement and angry form and director words.

Elaborate and citations please?

Abomination stomps. People need to understand that the submarine feat is NOT a strength feat. Aquaman is propelled through water, he doesn't swim using his strength.

This ^^

Aquaman fought Steppy and even got a couple shots in 🤷‍♂️

He fought the Karathen too so large beings shouldn't freak him out to the point of incompetency.

Not sure how size is a factor and Arthur should have his atlantean armor on so comparing the grenades from the opening of the film when he had no armor on is not a good scale.

@heatforce: I don’t think Arthur will get scared. But size means massive leverage advantage. Even If their strength were equal, Aquaman could not overpower Abomination. Abomination is actually almost twice as tall as Steppenwolf and a whole lot bulkier and more massive.

It is indeed a strength feat but just not as high as some would like due to bouancy iirc. It's also a good endurance feat. Either way, Aquaman is someone who is trypically armed and at the end of his Solo, he probably has the strongest melee weapon in the dceu. The trident of Atlan contains enough energy to sink Atlantis which is at a minimum a country size feat. It could even summon lightning in the freaking ocean

I think they are roughly the same height unless there is some official canon out there:

https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/8kro1y/the_height_of_most_characters_in_the_mcu/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=post_body

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/DC_Cinematic/comments/6zfbeb/discussion_how_tall_is_steppenwolf_compared_with/

I don't think either the MCU or DCEU can say more muscle bulk = greater strength.

@heatforce: Stepps is 8 feet tall and Abomination was stated in the script to be 14 feet tall. Abom is also a lot more massive, thick, built. Like I said size is a leverage advantage. Even if Abom and Arthur had equal strength, Arthur wouldn’t be able to overpower him.

A citation would be wonderful but in this case your view is script > visuals? I can appreciate that because in no way did they appropriately visualize Hulk or Abomination as 14 ft in that movie lol. Is there a econdary source besides the script that states Abomination is 14 ft?

Abomination on land. Aquaman in water. When not in water, compare how these two take explosives to the chest. The durability difference is clear and Abomination is quite fast, definitely fast enough to get clean hits on Aquaman on land. The chain Abomination has is something Aquaman cannot break and seeing how Abomination can use it like a very quick whip, the trident is countered by the range. It'll be a fight, but the submarine feat literally does not negate the lower durability showing, which is more relevant to battle since neither is a speedster and they will be taking hits from each other.

Well yeah Abom is bulkier and taller but by 4-5 feet? I dunno I don't see that much height advantage tbh.

Gotta factor in Atlantean armor. Aquaman now has Atlan's scale armor which survived a trip through the core of the earth while riding on karathen.

@heatforce: I never really even noticed the lightning thing until you brought it up. I don’t think he’s ever fired a lightning attack at anyone though?

A shame Orm didn’t use elemental abilities.

In Water, Arthur stomps but I think he has a shot even on land because of the upgrades in his solo movie.

The submarine feat is first of all, definitely not just a swimming feat or something. Just because Atlanteans can propel themselves in water without visibly using their strength or swimming like normal human beings, doesn't mean they can lift any object above their head in water, without using their strength. That would be ridiculous. He definitely needed physical strength to push the sub out. It is a very impressive strength feat. The upthurst force of water probably aided in lifting that sub but subs in water have their ballast tanks filled to achieve negative buoyancy so IDK how much upthurst would help here.

The Trident of Atlan has enough power to bust entire cities as seen in the movie. It also conducted lightning when Arthur was riding on Karathen. Although it's offensive powers in terms of energy projection weren't explored much in the movie, I think it is a formidable weapon coupled with it's durability, piercing ability and Arthur's Trident fighting skills.

Abomination definitely has much better strength feats on land and is much larger but Arthur has fought and held his own against large and extremely skilled opponents like Steppenowlf before. His armour should give him good durability too.

On water it's a stomp for Arthur but on land, Arthur can pull off some wins despite him lacking credible feats on land. The Trident will help bypass some advantages Abomination holds over him.

@iamgawwwwwdd: Lmao yes The Incredible Hulk really was that good. Edward Norton is just a better actor than Jason Mamoa. It didn’t make as much money in the box office but we both know that doesn’t really mean much. And Aquaman’s story and script were just TERRIBLE.

@ecstaticgrace: yeah he can fire energy blasts but I don't recall him firing lightning. But I think it's safe to say he can manipulate lightning but in a different way than Wondy. Consider this: Wondy is like Pyro in that she can't create lightning/ electricity but can manipulate it. Now either Aquaman summoned the storm that the lightning came from or he just summoned lightning 🤷‍♂️ If nothing changes i see a good team up move in a future movie (hopefully) where Aquaman summons lightning and Wondy uses it.

I can actually see Arthur winning, tbh. Blonsky was terrifyingly fast for his size, but I sincerely doubt he's faster than Arthur, considering how fast their combat speed is at the ocean floor. Another factor is that big and heavy chains aren't the most effective melee weapon, especially against a much smaller opponent, and especially if fighting in an urbanscape.

Couple this with Arthur's performance against Steppenwolf, the fact that he has an actual melee weapon with a long range, and that Atlantean weapons can absolutely shread submarines (ie, it is definitely slicing up Blonsky if he gets hit), then I can see a fight in the city going Arthur's way more often than Blonsky's.

Imo, a fight out in the open would even the odds more, as then Blonsky could probably make better use of lugging chains around. Unless they keep the fight in the middle of the street or something, I can see this working against Blonsky, badly.
