Merlin is not losing to SM Madara if this was Edo,Rinnegan,or Juubi I could see for differing levels of each for why. But SM Madara hindrance to him is that hes alive and he doesn't really have any good regeneration feats. Knowing this all I could see Merlin giving him a combination spell of her Infinity and Extermination Ray and that could probably put him down for the count if not for good.

The clash between Assault Mode Meliodas and Late-morning Escanor didn’t even break Merlin’s barrier so her Durability via barrier is high. And she can always amp her attacks via Infinify.

While Madara Broke out of Shukaku's seal, and it took eight of the Bijuu attacking simultaneously to destroy his Susanoo.

Madara would have the edge in power but not durability since Merlin can amp the defense of her barrier if need be, and turn the energy on the attacker back at them.

Madara has more power but Merlin can counter with Hax. So in the end Madara loses this fight. Give him a Rinnegan and the tides may turn.
