Luffy has access to the same amount of weakness in the environment.

Location Dressrosa.

Round 1:A Friendly Spar.

Luffy wants to take Ace on in a friendly spar to see how strong he is, so morals are on.

No punches are pulled. Luffy has access to the environment around him.

Luffy vs Crocodile/Enel is being taken to account, and Luffy has preparation to challenge Ace

A barrel of water is available. Both will have a seastone staff.

Round 2: Something happened and now...

This has gotten a tad bit serious and things are kicking up. The loser of the previous round will have their morals off.

Both Amp themselves, still pre-timeskip.

Seastone Staff is available to the loser of the previous round only.

@nervedamage: It doesn't work like that you see crocodile is made out for sand if u throw water on him, that sand will harden so u will be able to hurt him, but for fire it isn't the same thing cuz u can't harden fire by throwing water on it, he could just vape that water by powering up, see it not the same

The point with giving Pretimeskip Luffy Haki seems to be undoing Ace's intangibility.

Changed to a barrel of water. Does nothing to help. The water would run out within less than a minute, and Luffy lacks the damage to put down Ace in less the hours in the best case anyway. Also, the only advantage it gives over Haki is the potential to lessen the sting of some attacks, but Ace's attacks are so large and intense that a single barrel of water would do nothing to mitigate them, even if used properly.

Ace wins against Pretimeskip Luffy 10 times out of 10. Ace's physicals are the least of his abilities, and yet they're supposedly the still the same as Luffy's. Ace's fruit, even without intangibility, is better than Luffy's and a decent counter to Luffy's. And let's not forget that Ace is more experienced and with better control of his Haki.

Also, giving Luffy a seastone staff for the second (or first) round doesn't help him at all since Luffy is too bad with weapons to not be quickly disarmed, and Ace is actually pretty damn skilled with staffs due to his practice with them as a child, so inevitably it'll become a buff to Ace as he steals the staff.

Post-timeskip is a different story, one where Luffy wins, but the difference between pre-timeskip and post time skip luffy is night and day.

Go through some of the post-timeskip to get a better idea of how strong Ace actually was in hindsight before making threads like this.

If Luffy had something THAT convenient, the matchup for the second round would be all about whether Ace lets Luffy sneak in a punch, is prepared for his powers to suddenly briefly be taken away, and whether Luffy successfully double-taps him while he's down so he doesn't have any openings to get up again.

To compare, it would be a bit like Wiper vs Enel. The difference in ability would be a bit lower, but roughly that same path to victory would be needed. Chances are, it wont happen.

Luffy still loses round 1 unquestionably though since Ace would have a convenient thing as well and wouldn't be serious enough to plan such an upset.
