4. The Fight takes place In Metropolis after Superman defeats Darkseid.
5. It is mid-day on a cold, snowy day.
6. They start off with Superman hovering in the air about 10ft. from Lord Zedd.

ROUND 2

1. Lord Zedd still has prep-time.
2. Superman knows of Lord Zedd and his sorcery.
3. For Superman, he was not expecting Lord Zedd.
4. The Fight takes place In Moscow.
5. Before Superman appeared in Moscow, he had an hour Sun-dip.
6. Lord Zedd has access to Kryptonite, but it is up to Rita Repulsa if she can use it (Side-Note: Do you think Rita Repulsa will assist Lord Zedd In a Fight Against Superman?).
7. The two are about a mile apart.

At least in R1 where he has prep and confusion working for him.

If that was possible why didn't he do that to the Rangers?

On paper Zedd can win, but...his powers never seem, except during his debut, able to overcome the Rangers. And Superman is on several tiers higher than the Rangers.
