Doesn't GR need to have eye contact to do penance stare? Because if so, good luck getting through Vile's armour.
@god_of_batman: from what I can see he has eye holes.
@god_of_batman: is this Skulduggery Pleasant Lord Vile? If so I believe he wins. He's just so powerful. Also, I believe that if Ghost Rider uses his Penance Stare, Vile might be able to block it or it could possibly just affect one of his personalities/souls.

Yeah, it's SP Vile. I'm not sure if he would be able to resit the Penance Stare, but he could most likely prevent GR from even getting a chance to use it. Also, if GR does get close enough to use PS, Vile could use his Death Bubble.

That's just concept art. There's no official art for Vile yet. Vile's armour is made out of living shadows and can move and manipulate itself. It can easily cover up Vile's eye holes if GR tries the penance stare on him.

In the movie (for what it's worth) he used it against Legion, the incorporation of quite a few souls, and it had a bigger effect through that.
@warlock360: In the newer movie, it eats the souls too.
@god_of_batman: why would you even bring up that deal movie lol?
@god_of_batman: why would you even bring up that deal movie lol?
What?
@god_of_batman: whoops! I meant crap not deal lol.
@proto3296: Ah, okay XD Well, the reason I did it is because I thought comic GR would be unfair for Vile, so I made it the movie version to balance things out.
@god_of_batman: makes sense dude! I just hated the movie rendition. It brings shame to the character.
I've read all the books- Vile's extremely durable, he's able to withstand being smashed into the road at high speed causing the ground to break, thrown through walls and punched by darquesse who strong enough to break rock. His healing factor is quite impressive, however I don't see him harming ghost rider with his shadow manipulation as correct me if I'm wrong but GR can only be harmed by holy weapons? I have to say that if gr somehow incapacitated vile with his chain (difficult because vile can fly) then uses the penance state it's all over: Vile's as despicable as his name implies and has killed thousands of ppl
You're forgetting about the Death Bubble... and the fact that Vile can just make his armour cover his eyes.
*looks at picture and sees eye holes*
hmmmmmmmmm......................... ima say GR
a. It's only concept art
b. The armour's made out of living shadows, which can be manipulated by Vile however he likes. He could easily just cover the eye holes.
The penance stare cannot be intrerupted, in the movie Blackheart got souls.GR burned them.
I like how people are just saying GR because they don't know how Lord Vile is... I reckon Vile could win fairly handily, and I only know him off a wiki...
If he covers his eyes hows he going to see?
He can read movements in the air to determine where GR is. Not to mention his armour has a mind of it's own, it would keep attacking GR even if Vile didn't know where he was.
oh cool, well than IDK cause I dont know to much bout this guy then cause I didn't read to much of this series.
@young_murloc: Okay then, fair enough.
@leo-343: Ah, that's a good point. But another good point is how would GR even get his hands on Vile? Vile can fly, create entire walls of shadows to smack GR around with, Shadow Travel short distances, and if all else false and GR does get in range, Vile would use the Death Bubble.
This looks like a great match up! The problem is current ghost rider is supposed to be MUCH stronger now. And well I've got no idea who Lord Vile is.
Well, this is move GR... I doubt Vile could do much to any comic version of GR XD
Impressive, but those chains still seem to be made of regular metal... that wont last long against Vile's shadows. Not much can get through Vile's shadows, even Darquesse's beams of pure magic energy, which can turn stone to dust in an instance, barely made Vile flinch. Then there's Mr. Bliss, who can casually throw people through highly reinforced concrete walls and snap steel beams without breaking a sweat. Want to know what happened when he tried to punch Vile? He broke his hand and wrist. As you can imagine, his demise was inevitable.
@god_of_batman: mystic ones are unbreakable, besides his movie chains were never broken. He also has his shotgun, more powerful when he changes it.Every thing GR changes becomes more powerful and indestructible.
GR movie showed good durability, he was hit...crushed by a truck at good speed and that did nothing to him, second movie has more.
Shadows shouldn't be a problem, you saw the fire wave.
While comic GR can be hurt by high level magic, movie GR didn't show that.We can count magic but i can't show a thing because it never happend.
@god_of_batman: Ah well somehow I overlooked that. Still a great thread.
@leo-343: Too bad GR isn't limited to his bike and so yes you did have a brain fart....to think Vile would WIN. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!! Even movie GR could trump Vile.
@leo-343: I know, I was dicking with you. xD
Vile is a planet buster. He's on a different level in terms of sheer power, but I'm not sure how they will hurt each other seeing that Vile's armour will protect him endlessly and GR is pure hellfire.
Character from skullduggery pleasant books. He is an extremely powerful mage who's armour is made of living shadow. It makes him indestructible and the armor can form blades, tendrils, blunt force weapons etc. He is a world breaker level threat.
Vile stomps but I don't know where this planet buster nonsense is coming from, scaling from Darquesse doesn't work because he was amped by the Accelerator when he fought her in DoTL, needed help against her and this was all before she gained an exponential power increase during her Vision- she went from releasing a blast comparable to a small nuke which wrecked a quarter of a city, to burning the world to a husk. She didn’t bust it though as she did return to ‘what was left’ of earth to open a portal to the Faceless Ones.
Anyway, Vile doesn’t scale to Vision Darquesse.
@clownprinceofcrime1995: An obvious hyperbolic/bragging statement made even more clear by the fact that he has no DC feats close to city level and even while amped against Darquesse, said world cracking power was no where to be seen or inferred.
Not a bragging feat in context he was trying to relate to another sorcerer of similar power to calm them down. In general the character doesn’t brag about things they can’t do and not in this context.
@clownprinceofcrime1995: Nobody in Skulduggery Pleasant aside from Vision Darquesse is planet level.
Also I’ll say it again since you ignored it for some reason- Vile has no feats anywhere near close to back up that hyperbolic statement, not even when he was amped.
Argeddion, Old Lord Vile not the inhibited new one, Darquesse.
He has good feats while being held back. Remember the Vile we see in the books is holding back or is being held back. Plus he isn’t in a battlefield being amped by thousands of deaths.
My biggest concern is the death bubble can be defended against. Melancholia couldn’t use it against Vile even though she was in a weakened state and Darquesse reversed it mid way. So GR could resist it, GR can’t be put down physically so eventually he’ll get a penance stare in which is bad news for Vile.
Argeddion wasn’t close to planet level, he had the potential to be as powerful as Vision Darquesse however he was incapacitated well before that was possible. He also admitted KoTW Darquesse had a good chance at beating him which was why he instilled a psychic block in Valkyrie's subconscious. KoTW Darquesse is less powerful than DoTL Pre-Vision Darquesse who’s best DC feat was nuking East Roarhaven.
Your point about being amped by the deaths around him is valid however it’s still highly speculative and the statement is still likely hyperbolic given the context.
The Death Bubble can be defended against by people with strong enough magic and skill, neither of which applies to Ghost Rider made worse by the fact that he doesn’t even have knowledge of it. Also I’m not sure why he can’t be put down physically or knocked out, no where was it said in the film that he was immune to physical damage and it’s a NLF + conjecture to say that since nothing physical put him down (when he wasn’t weakened) he can’t get put down by Vile, seeing as nobody who fought the Rider was anywhere near Vile’s power level. The Penance Stare also isn't happening, Vile is faster and can teleport.
I thought you physically have to have eyes for the Penance Stare to work? I heard that's the case for comic GR at least, people here are talking about eye holes and forgetting that Vile doesn't have any eyes at all, lol.
@clownprinceofcrime1995 Being amped by thousands of deaths shouldn't put Vile anywhere near planet level, we already saw that when Melancholia absorbed the souls of five hundred of the most powerful mages on the planet that she was still beneath DotL Darquesse and Lord Vile. A weakened Mel said that the five hundred souls were equivalent to half her strength, meaning that five hundred souls hold less power than base Melancholia.
Grimacing, Melancholia held her wounded arm up. The gash cut diagonally across her flesh, splitting symbols. “Vile’s damaged me. The power isn’t looping like it should. I’m not recharging like I should. It’s going wrong.” Valkyrie knelt by her. “Release the energy you stole.”
“Get us out of here.”
“Release the energy, then I’ll help you.”
“He’s after us!” Melancholia snapped. “If he catches us, I’ll need all the strength I can find! And you want me to just release half of it?”
We can see from Melancholia's damage output against Darquesse and Vile/Vile's armor that she is nowhere near even city level, even if Vile in the past absorbed the equivalent to a hundred Melancholia's he'd be nowhere near planetary.
