The bear won't be easy to take down, but I think the silverback can pull it off. I believe they're smarter and they have longer reach with their arms.
This isn't even close IMO the bear is just to big and has too many weapons and is more durable with layers of fat. The gorillas only chance is using a club or something but even then one swipe from the bear is severe damage or a one shot

FIGHT
;)
I think the dextereity and mobility along with the strength and vastly superior (unless im mistaken) intelligence of the gorilla is just too much. The bear would definitely hurt, but the gorilla would do more damage
Can go both ways, but I think a blows to the head can knock the bear out. The bear can also claw the shit out of the gorilla.
The bear slaughters the gorilla both rounds becaue
1. This is a kodiak bear, they are the 2nd largest bear species weighting around 1200-1500 pounds which is 4 times as much as the gorilla.
2. The bear can put out way more lethal damage due to it having 5 inch claws and bigger canines.
3. The bear is covered in thick dense fur which would give it less impact if the gorilla tries to hit or bite it.
I remember i read an article about a hunter who emptied a full clip of .44 on a grizzly and the bear still managed to maul and kill the hunter though i believe the grizzly later died of blood loss. And remember that was a GRIZZLY bear. Now imagine a KODIAK who is 1/3 bigger can handle. A better matchup against a silverback would probably be a black bear because they are similar in size and weight.
Also people saying the gorilla is more intelligent. Bears aren't stupid, they are natural born predators and have one of the sharpest minds of the wild.
Bear wrecks. Way, way larger along with claws and durability.
Now, a VineForce chimpanzee could pull it off.
The bear and it's not even the slightest bit close.
@mial42: a vine force chimp would rip that bears face off
Gorillas are not natural fighters, they will avoid fights most of the time and are pray for jaguars in the wild.
Bear slaughters.
@bloodfury: Doesn't matter if they fight in a forest. The kodiak is at least 3 times as heavy and have 5 inch claws. Gorillas are also vegetarians while bears are predators.
@beyond_dreams: What happens is that there are witness documented cases and recorded evidences of gorillas using tools, whether in captivity or in nature. In the jungle, resources are even more available, not to mention that the gorilla could also use the trees and jump on the bear from above the tree if he was already in the tree and if it was provoked from there. I search about Kodiak Bears on Google Images and they give me pictures of giant specimens that would not even make effort to end the gorilla's life, while I also see photos of some smaller specimens that the gorilla could easily break the bones of with few blows. I don't know, I feel that most of the times the Kodiak would win, but the gorilla has a chance too... I could be wrong, though.
