Lady Shiva vs Black Canary

Black Canary.She's a very good fighter..not on Shiva's level but good...plus she has the bird call.

Yeah, the Canary Cry, I thought would stand out. Maybe balance the battle out more. Although with it, am still undecided.

Black Canary. Though, this would be better if she didn't have the Canary Cry available.

Well, in that case, Shiva. I'd say Shiva's the second best fighter in the DCU (although Dinah's third), she can read body language ... she's just really, really good, okay?

In Sensei and Sttudent on Birds of Prey, Canary Shiva and Cheshire are on a plane if that's what you're talking about. 
 
Earlier Canary and Shiva ambushed Cheshire, and Canary took her down (in a swimming pool). She probably only won because she surprised Cheshire as she is the second deadliest assassin on the planet next to shiva and Oracle told Dinah that Nightwing said he'd rather wrestle a wolverine naked than attack Cheshire in her own home. 
 
But later they all fight and some other guys, then Canary leaves, and Cheshire double-crosses them. She poisons the air (idk if she's built up an immunity over the years, but it didn't affect her) this numbed Shiva, who was able to get a few hits in on Cheshire before collapsing. Then Chesh tied Shiva up and left her, intending to blow up the car with her in the trunk and officials to think it was Cheshire's dead body. But Catwoman saved Shiva. 
  
According to Promethius i think Shiva is the 3rd in the world, second to Tiger and Dragon. As he beats Shiva in 3 seconds, then asks the remaining birds of prey at the scene if they would rather die by Bronze's skills or Richards (and both of them ae better than Shiva). 
 
The doctor said "She's the best in the world!" Promethius said "3rd actually.... I can't wait to show her my updated files." 
 
Also throughout Sensei and Student, Shiva insults Canary's skills a couple of times. Saying She has a list of the top 25 fighters, then Canary asks Shiva where she is on this list, Shiva says she doesn't want Canary to cry again (their sensei died, and Shiva told Canary to stop showing her emotions so freely, tears running down her face). The Shiva said she raised Canary a couple of notches after her ferocity at Cheshire (in the swimming pool), then invites Canary to be her student, a rare opportunity, but Shiva sees potential in her.

Hand to hand Shiva would destroy her, unless Black Canary immediately opens up  with the Canary Cry.
 
I guess it may depend on the situation and how far the girls stand apart in the battle area

well canary managed to get the upper hand on deathstroke when she faced off against him in bop. so i think she has a shot against shiva.

Shiva would win this battle! even with her training Black Canary would not be able to beat her, remember just because you where trained by someone does not always mean you can defeat them. It would be an interesting battle non the less, but it would end with Shiva the victor and Black Canary out for the count. There are very few people who can go toe to toe with Shiva in the DCU and walk away the winner, sadly BC is not one of those who can.

On the plane where Dinah went to t bathroom, didn't shiva punch out another girl?

Shiva wins if Canary does not use her Cry. Canary wins if she does. 

black canary if she use her cry could win,but if she just tried to out fight shiva she'd loss

No. She still cannot beat Shiva. She knows this and says this many times throughoutthe Birds of Prey series. That's why Shiva's training her. She's not in the top 3 martial artist, not even the top 10. Probably not even the top 20. Shiva, David Cain, O-Sensei, Sensei, I-ching, Batman, Tiger, Richard, Natas, and Drakon can all beat her, to name a few..... She is awesome tho. Notice nearly all of those were noted masters of some sort, so it takes a master to take her down. She can take down a lot of people in the DCU but she still not at the level of Shiva..........  yet............... "

Dinah is easily in the top ten. Dragon, Tiger, Shiva, Wayne, and Cassie are a lock. Drakon, David Cain, Nightwing and Hawke are arguably better than Dinah (good place for another thread).  That's ten right there. Canary hasn't even fought all of these so who knows who would beat who. To be clear I'm arguing Canary's rank among the other fighters and in no way am I saying she beats Shiva. Canary doesn't need her cry to win this. She just needs a few drops of blood =D     "

When did she say she wasn't in the top 25-30? In Birds of Prey? I remember her refusing to tell her where she was.  In that same story she boosts her placing because of her brutality with Cheshire. Who knows how Shiva has them ranked and that was six years ago. I actually just read Sensei and Student a couple days ago. One of my favs.

I'm going with Shiva.

I'd love to see Canary whup Shiva's butt but it wouldn't happen.
