Both have DN this time
Both have to find each other
And winner would be the one who kills the other first
No shinigami eyes
Who wins ?
@the_hajduk: How do you think the new A-Kira compares to the previous big brains like Light, L, Near and Mello?
@alphaq: Light is the smartest. He beat L fair and square, and it was stated outright that he would have beaten Near and Mello as well if they hadn’t teamed up. The only way to beat Light in the series was for two other geniuses to work together. Nobody was going to beat him by themselves.
@stomps: I am a big Death Note fan.
@the_hajduk: Fari and square huh...
Light had the death note, ryuuk, his bitch, and Rem.
L? Only the useless police force.
But he trolled Light hard and almost defeated him.
So eh
@coolguy18: Dude the entire police force was not useless. You should rewatch the show because L utilized his team and his resources for many of his plots. Does that take credit away from L? No, he used the tools that he had available but HE came up with the plans. Same with Light.
The real advantage L had over Light was already being a full grown adult with a decade of work experience under his belt... vs a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT. I believe a lot of fans just imagine L and Light are the same age because L went undercover at his high school. But L was like 27 years old I think. Light was 17. The odds of a 17 year old beating his elder are slim, so that’s another reason why Light’s victory is so impressive.
Also another advantage L had was being filthy rich. Like real Bruce Wayne style RICH. Oh, our investigation requires a better HQ? I’ll just have an entire freaking building built with all of the best computer technology available for us, it’ll take about a week. Again Light was a high school student and had NONE of those resources at his disposal. He had to infiltrate L’s inner circle and use L’s resources against him, which was very hard to do.
And Misa and Rem were barely advantages. Misa actually showed up at a time when things were going fine, then singlehandedly almost got Light caught. Then Rem starts telling Light that he hates him and is going to kill him. How is that an advantageous situation? Light eventually turned Misa and Rem to his advantage, but he had to be brilliant to do it. Rem was against Light and Light manipulated him while manipulating L.
Well, OP says that the winner is the one who kills the other, so I'm assuming L is willing to kill here? If so, he should win pretty easily, having a Death Note or not.
If L gots DN he stomps. The reason Light got away with killing people was cause L had no idea how Light was pulling it off.
It's not about intelligence, it's Light being too limited in the moves he can make. L will know to search for the notebook the moment he suspects Light.
The only reason why Light won was because L had no idea how the Death Note worked thus got tricked by Light changing the rules of it. If he has one from the start he would confirm Light was Akira in the first 5 episodes, even more so considering he can ask his own Shinigami key questions.
L was way more secretive than Light and having a DN would confirm Light also has one through the Shinigami that always follows him.
There’s no real way for Light to win on equal ground without heavy mental gymnastics and disregard of explicit advantages.
@ghostravage: That’s not the only reason Light won. If the circumstances were different and L had a DN, obviously Light would have adjusted his tactics.
L had to have been smarter for the story to work. It also makes sense when you take into account the Death Note itself which is a ridiculous advantage that Light had from the start- the factor of a supernatural object that nobody would take into account, additionally it took literal divine intervention for Light to beat L. If there never was a second Kira, it would have been a stalemate which means L is smarter again because he was dealt a shit hand but still had a draw.
Factors in L’s favour like wealth and experience do not at all compare to having a Death Note.
@sy8000: L already knew who Light was, so a picture of him, knew his name, even saw him way before confronting him personally at college. L would know Light is Akira without Light even knowing who L is.
@the_hajduk: It was literally the only missing piece in L’s plan and he was about to confirm Light was Akira at the end If it wasn’t because of Ren killing him.
That missing piece made L put Light on stand by and work with him even still thinking he was Light. If L knows how the notebook works, he will catch Light with little to no effort to be honest.
In fact, L could kill Light when he confronted him in college. He knows his name, Light doesn’t know L’s real name and there’s no Shinigami eyes. Light has no way to win.
@ghostravage: L had a missing piece from his plan? Light had no missing pieces. That is why he won.
This isn't a fair battle in the first place, L only needs to find Light and he's dead, Light needs to find L and learn his real name which nobody knows outside of Watari and L himself
@sy8000: L already knew who Light was, so a picture of him, knew his name, even saw him way before confronting him personally at college. L would know Light is Akira without Light even knowing who L is.
L would still have to meet Light in person to see his shinigami. He has no way of knowing if Light has the eyes before the encounter and he doesn't know if Ryuk would kill to protect him or not. From L's perspective going to Light in person would be suicide or at best quick draw to be honest. And he wouldn't kill Light if he was only a suspect due to morals.
@the_hajduk: Sure... Out of the sudden he needs to question all his believes and start taking into account gods and shinigamis and magic and still almost beat him, needless to say how lucky Kira was with finding a mindless love minion to go with his plans. C’mon now.
@sy8000: He doesn’t need to confront him in person considering he already knows how to Death Note works. Just observe and spy and catch him off guard. Even making an entire team of people touch the Death Note to have eyes on him at all times. It’s going to be easy considering Light does not know L considers him a suspect, the only reason Light became much more cautious with hiding the note, among other things, was because he already knew he was a suspect.
He can even pull off the same gimmick with the fake L and get him on the spot with no need to confront him in person.
