@granitevision: That is objectively wrong. Karathen is officially stated to be the most powerful creature on DCEU Earth. At least in raw power/strength it is above Superman.
Karathen gets stomped. Superman flies away and stalemates. Not sure how Superman would fair against Surtur if he tried.
@tyger: I mean Superman's faster and stronger than Hulk and can fly, so he'd land dozens if not hundreds of hits before Surtur touched him. I'd imagine he'd eventually do some real damage. Would probably win soundly if he was aware of Surtur's "weakspot" (though not sure it's a weakspot in his prime form...)

Faster sure but not stronger. I know Superman has more clear and defined feats but just by scaling Hulk off Thor he'd easily stomp Superman. Thor on Nidevillir demonstrated moon level strength when he moved those rings and Thor is only half as strong as Hulk.
@amcu: Pretty sure Hela’s massive blades that Surter dodged were like Mach 5...
OT: Surter Stomps. MCU Characters Like Surter And Odin are in a different tier

Superman is way faster than that. I was thinking something along the lines of the World Engine bullrush. Eventually that might do some damage. Surtur's durability is really high though. I just don't see him tagging Clark.
he also had several kilometres of distance between him and Hela to move out of the way. That's why the blades were calc'ed at Mach 5 in the first place. The blades were also gigantic targets which making dodging them much easier juxtaposed to Superman
Karathen was confirmed to be 2 miles long by the company that did the visuals, that's nearly the same size as Surtur.
@icec0ld: Which is really just a stupidly high showing for the Hulk. Surtur took Hela’s Mach-speed, kilometer-long ballistas like a champ. Superman might as well be a spitball, and even that analogy underplays the sheer size difference.
@essem: When has Superman ever lifted anything remotely that big? He’s can’t even spread his arms out wide enough to grab both horns. He can’t even get both his arms around ONE horn. I could literally give you Superman’s newspaper tectonic plate feat for free and he still wouldn’t be strong enough.
I urge you people to seriously look into the VFX team’s description of Surtur, crunch the numbers and try to wrap your head around the size of this guy. He’s not your run of the mill kaiju. He makes Godzilla look downright quaint.
Karathen is over 3 km long, and should logically have huge amounts of strength just to move a body of that size. If Superman plays smart, he won't get hit.
Team.
@kirkseven: @x_insignia1: Where are these figures coming from?
@mk39: headcanon lol, the karathen is no where NEAR 3 km.
@mk39: Tectonic plates weigh sextillions of tons. If you think the karathen really weighs that much, I honestly don’t know what to say.
@matthew660: I don’t think the Karathen weighs anywhere near that much. That’s kind of my point.
@mk39: Oh, I guess I misunderstood your post, sorry about that.

Surtur one-shots Karathen and then accidentally one-shots himself by trying to tag Clark.
Where did you get the strength ratio for Thor to Hulk being 1/2?
Interviewer: Which createure or animal is your favorite?
Jeff White : Karathen hands down, how often do you get to build a two mile long creature that emerges from under the sea floor covered in lava that is voiced by Julie Andrews!
Now that we cleared that up....
@mk39: and what are his fantastic feats? Getting stabbed by Helas blades in the shoulder and keeping going?
Try...
-Moving his own 4000-meter tall frame around with little difficulty.
-Heaving his gargantuan sword (more than half as long as he is tall) around with little difficulty.
-The aforementioned necroblade-tanking feat.
-Razing Asgard to the ground in a few sword swipes.
-Destroying a small-island-sized planetoid in a single, dedicated thrust.
That fantastic enough?
Neat, too bad she never went for the head to take the crown off
She does though. He dodges it.
At what point does the film suggest this would even work?
@nwgzsjuwhm96y2: surtur from mcu is 1000 times weaker than his comic book version. If it was comic book version surtur, he would stomp, but supes got this on his own since movie supes was like a marvel mid tier (The thing, colossus, groot, she hulk, etc).
@mk39: headcanon lol, the karathen is no where NEAR 3 km. hurr durr
Which creature or animal is your favorite?
Jeff White // Karathen hands down, how often do you get to build a two mile long creature that emerges from under the sea floor covered in lava that is voiced by Julie Andrews!
2 miles is roughly 3.22 km.
@mk39: you're actually impressed that he's able to move himself around? thats cute
Surtur is the mountain
and Superman and Zods fight actually destroyed more building than Surtur did with their bodies
when Surtur said his crown is the source of his power, and plunging it into the enternal flame would make him grow huge, so taking the crown out again, would be again taking out the source of his power, thats how Thor beat his crippled form, thats how to beat his full form, it was pretty clearly explained right at the beginning
oh and destroying Asgard, people are pretty sure that was just his sword hitting that diamond thing at its core which was pretty much a self destruct button
Comparing Surtur and Karathen-
Surtur was apparently 4km in peak size. Karathen was recently confirmed to be 2 miles/3.22 km so there isn't much difference in size.
In terms of strength, Surtur's best feat is busting out of the Asgardian Palace. Karathen burrowed from thousands of kilometers down the Earth's crust upto the sea floor (since it was covered in Lava). It simply wiped out a large chunk of the Atlantean force with just its tentacles. In terms of Strength, Karathen >>>>>> Surtur. The feats aren't even comparable.
In terms of energy/heat durability, Karathen no sells lava like it's not even bothering her. A single Atlantean gun can bust a mini hill. Karathen no sold like thousands of those rifles and didn't even flinch. I don't think Surtur can harm Karathen significantly unless it decides to Asteroid bust (we'll address this as well).
Regarding busting Asgard, I think the script of Thor Ragnarok clearly reveals that Surtur could do it only after destroying the Crystal base of Asgard or something. I don't remember it very accurately but there definitely is context behind that feat. Surtur was staggered by Hulk just leaping on him. A single swipe of Karathen's tentacles will topple him and will definitely harm him significantly and Surtur isn't fast enough to escape her. The only thing we're not sure about is Karathen's piercing durability so I'm not saying Karathen downright stomps Surtur but don't forget we have Superman in the DC team too.
Hela's swords were able to pierce Surtur and apparently they travelled at Mach 5. If that's the case then Superman solos. He can travel at triple digit Mach speeds, can bust mountain tops by just falling on them and one shotted the skyscraper sized World Engine by flying through it despite the Kryptonian atmosphere and gravity. I'm pretty sure Superman will be easily able to one shot Surtur that way. Superman is invulnerable to fire, having not been burned by a nuclear fireball, so Surtur has no chance of hurting him or tagging him due to the speed. If we consider the tectonic plate feat as legit then Superman throws Surtur to space.
