Which of these Game of Thrones characters is the better warrior?
Jaime Lannister vs. The Hound (TV Show Versions)
The King Slayer IMO.
I wonder how Jaime would do against The Mountain?
Suppose he would win, being the quicker one?
In one episode where Jaime is in prison, he says that there are just 3 people in Westeros that can go toe to toe with him...
I assume he meant the Clegane's or Selmy at his peak............... maybe he meant that dude who lives in the south .. the red viper or whats his face... who hasn't been introduced yet

That tall blonde chick looked like she'd give Jamie a good fight. I'm just going by what's in the show, havent read the books.

blonde chick stinx
Are you kidding me ? Unarmed Jaimie would beat 10 Sandros
There are only two Knights who would have chance to beat Jaimie
Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy rest would get destroyed against him
Hound has better feats at this point but Jamie is still the better warrior.
I'd go with Jamie. Smarter, crafty and more skilled.

GRRM consistently states that Jamie Lannister is officially one of the greatest swordsman in Westerosi history. Sandor is good but he's not on Selmy, Dayne, Lannister level in my opinion. I think Jon might actually be a fierce up and comer as well, I feel like by the time A dream of Spring is done he will be an incredible warrior.
@princearagorn1: hehehehehe
Jaime wins a good fight. I think book versions is more of a slaughter in Jaime favor but in the show he is nerfed big time.
Jamie he is more skilled then the hound if jamie had both hands he would win. The hound maybe strong and fast but not as skilled as jamie and as fast. So jamie would outsmart and beat him.
What are Jaime's feats of skill?
I made a huge post about this Friday and when I hit post, it didn't go through.
Summary: They both fought Brienne while both were not at 100%,but Jaime was actually strong enough to lock swords with Brienne while being handcuffed at the legs and hands.
Sure, a argument can be made sandor had a infection, Brienne had valyrian steel, but Jaime 2s handcuffed and malnourished for a year.
An argument can also be made that Brienne fought Jaime to incapacitate while Jaime fought to kill (or maybe he was just getting to her head).
Jaime should win but barely, 6/10
Even though Jaime was nerfed on the show he still wins. He's quicker and more deadly than the Hound when he was healthy and had two hands. I give Jaime 6/10 against the Hound on show versions, 8 or 9/10 against him in book versions
@slimj87d: to be honest the valerian steel thing is a big factor. Sandor and Brienne are both strong but the sword gave her a huge speed advantage. Jaime may be faster than the hound but he isn't as strong, and i think if the hound had behaved as ferociuosly as he did against Gregor he would have taken Brienne. Plus he did manage to hold his own against a bar of 6 soldiers and rescue Sansa from a huge mob.
Ever heard of Aemon Targaryen or Daemon Blackfyre.
Either would beat Jaime, Daemon would demolish him.
TV show versions? Jaime has one hand and hasn't learned how to fight with it yet. Bronn beats his ass on a regular. Sandor could crush Jaime. But Sandor's dead. So Jaime wins by default.
@unknownuser101: trust me, my post was 3 times longer than that one but cv had a error when I clicked post....
I agree with your points, I actually had them in my op. I think Jaime is actually stronger than meets the eye seeing that 1 year of being malnourished, locked at the hands and feet, he was still able to lock and push Brienne back.
Gregor is stronger than Jaime without a doubt, but Jaime style is to Perry, he doesn't block and lock, he actually catches and throws your swing off balance. Having a good showing of strength is just a plus coupled with his speed, skill and the use of a second dagger blade in the other hand makes him pretty deadly also.
I think he would beat Gregor only barely.
@invisathreat: this topic was made two years ago and forum rules state you use the characters at the best of their ability. One handed Jaime doesn't fall under those rules.
Jaimie wins. He killed 10 men when he was cornered on the battlefield that got him captured by Rob Stark.
The Hound would have died in that fight in the farm house if Arya hadn't been stabbing dudes to assist. And that was 5 dudes who moments before had been contentedly pillaging and not ready for a fight.
Jaimie killed 10 warriors on a battle field in full gear who were there with the purpose of killing him.
Most of his fights have been off-screen, but they are still canon as far as the show is concerned, just as Selmy is a known badass, even though we've yet to see him try to use a sword.
Of course, now that he's "all left" he wouldn't stand a chance.
@slimj87d: My Apologies. To the best of their abilities, Jaime can't beat the Hound. Jaime fights with honor. Honor means nothing to the Hound. Same reason why Jaime can't beat Bronn. Now if morals were off, then we have a different story. Jaime is a better fighter, but Sandor get's down and dirty. In a no holds barred match, I put my money on Jaime, but if Jaime has his honor and his code then I believe the Hound takes it due to cheating.
@fortified_hooligan: to be fair, we don't know the context of Jaime killing 10 men, but I don't remember the dialogue there.
Was he actually cornered? Did he actually fight them all at once?
true, we don't know the exact context of Jaimie's capture, but i believe a similar thing was said of Selmy when he was captured by Robert Baratheon when they took king's Landing, and Selmy is famously the most formidable swordsman in westeros... at least until Jaimie came along.
We've only seen jaimie fight once while in good condition, where he stabbed that guy in the eyeball in the above screenshot.
Every other time he's picked up a sword he's been imprisoned for months, mal-nourished, tired, stiff or fighting with his left hand.
We didn't get to see him in action, but by all accounts he was the best sword fighter alive. If we don't believe that, then there's no reason to believe that the Aemon the Conquerer had dragons either, as that too was only widely reported and never seen on screen.
The only account we can look at was Jaime Vs. Brianne and The Hound Vs. Brianne. Sandor was said to be moving much slower do to his infected bite had inferior weaponary and inferior conditions all around. Whereas Jaime was Shackled (but the shackles weren't completely restricting) and had been malnourished for a very long time. Overall Jaime was in worse condition, however he was also beaten far easier. Whereas even with all his disadvantages The You d nearly beat Brianne. I see this going very similarly to The Hound Vs. Brianne, where Jaime beats The Hound via swords but The Hound uses his strength and ruthlessness gets him the win
