Jaguar may take it if he can get passed being gored. Since they have such strong jaws. if not it probably loses.

@frozen: Spite. Bull solos 3 lions & tigers all at once, it's a bull

No it wouldnt. Male lions have taken down bull water buffalo in the wild. Water buffalo can be bigger then then these bulls. Same with tigers.

Bull 8/10, but Jaguar has a chance if it gets its jaws around the bulls nose and crushes it.

Extremely powerful bite + explosiveness. They can kill Caimans and crack turtle shells with their bites.

There's at least a 3x weight difference (possibly far more,) 2x size difference, and a strength difference that is just laughable. All a jaguar really has is its jaw, which is matched by those massive horns.

Could go either way. Jaguar has the speed and agility. Bull has the strength and durability.

I think the Jaguar takes the majority. Would be one brutal fight.

@frozen: I would have mentioned the bite and its is extremely impressive but you see, that is were the problem lies. This isnt a hunt or a plan to make a stealth attack. Each time the Jag jumps to the bull to go for a bite, its just going to get pounced back down, eventually leading to the Jag retreating.

Bull takes the majority here. Its too much of a brick for the Jag. Many South Americans have encountered and reported of seeing both Jags and Cougars trying to take Guanacos out in the wild and most of the time its a fail. A big Cat is dependent of ambushing its prey to go for an insta-kill. No way a Jag is taking down a Bull in this case. Bull literally outweighs it by almost 500-700 lbs. and in open space, the Jag's stamina isnt going to hold up here.

The Bull takes it eventually if it's actually trying to kill the cat. Yes, he Jaguar gets some scratches and bites in, but it eventually gets gored or Trampled on. Bull wins high-low difficulty.

So is that a hypothetical weigh in for the Jaguar? Because since when can Jaguars weight up to almost 400lbs?

Its not hypothetical. Large male Jaguars can weigh 300lbs, with the largest ones reaching 350lbs.

Well it is a comic site. All animal debaters or enthusiasts in here probably are trying to keep in their character lol.

How about if Jaguar was given an ambush advantage?

@frozen: Dont think it would make much of a difference my guy. Bulls are extremely resistant and if the Jag even if the Jaguar manages to get it by the throat, the Bull can just cut it loose by jumping up and down or literally sit on it or trample it.

Spanish fighting buffalo is strong, but it is still a scaled down Water buffalo from Africa, which are on average bigger and stronger than these Spanish buffalos. a jaguar has a really strong bite force and normally go for the kill via skull crush rather than asphyxiation like lions and tigers.. Still, I think the Jaguar can do this, since this is just a scaled down version of a water buffalo vs lion fight, and a male lion is capable of killing the buffalo.

No Caption Provided

The buffalo can't breath, the nose is a big weak spot for the jaguar to exploit, jaguars are pretty strong as well.

Also Jaguars can take on anacondas which are pure muscle.

As seen here.

I say jaguar wins 7/10

@frozen: 350 pounds for a Jaguar is absolutely enormous. 300 pounds for a Jaguar is an very impressive weight.

I'm not sure. Jaguars can certainly kill one with the element of surprise. But I have a feeling that face to face more times than not, the Bull would just bluff charge and the Jaguar would look for something a little eaiser.

@_philosoraptor_: I think that the Jaguar can win but you also have to consider that most Predator hunts end in failure. So even if Lions routinely hunt African Buffalo, more times than not they fail.

For example a female lioness has brought down African Buffalo Solo but I would consider that quite rare and not really typical.

IIRC some Jaguars in the wild have been recorded at that weight, so its possible. Do you think an ambush could help the Jag?

Also good to see you're back.

Definitely I think an Ambush would help. The name Jaguar literally means he who kills in one bound.

And yea 350 is attainable, but I would say that's a very large jaguar rather than just a large one. Even really big Male Jaguars tend to be slightly smaller than Lionesses and 350 pounds for one is pretty big (given that a Lioness will max reach 180 kilos or 400 pounds)

Only in an ambush, and even then not guaranteed. Face to face, bull stomps lion effortlessly, it's a one-sided fight

Cage match? Bull is realistically going to win.

A typical predatory ambush scenario? I'd root for the Cat.

With the element of surprise a jaguar can take it. Bull beats it out most times taking some light wounds maybe.

@_philosoraptor_: Buffalo solo lions all of the time, and lions are quite a bit stronger than jaguars
