Poll Is MCU Frank Castle (in H2H/Melee) underrated? (26 votes)
Lots of lowballing I've been seeing ever since Season 2 dropped, drop opinions

Not gonna pretend to be overly familiar with his S2 (or even S1) showings, but he does seem to be getting underrated if people are saying he's barely thug/fodder level
In DDS2, Frank was clearly a trained fighter, but what made him really dangerous in a 1v1 were his physicals and insane pain tolerance that let him soak up damage like nothing. That doesn't seem to have changed from what I've seen in his solo series
Nope.
His only redeeming quality is his Pain Tolerance which in a lot of fights will not save him from losing due to vastly inferior strength, striking power, speed and skill.
Let me get this straight, yesterday you make a thread about who would win between Oliver Queen & Frank Castle, then the next day you make a thread asking whether Frank is underrated on CV or not?
This is next level bait Tony.
Yeah.
Saw him being put against Nolan Batman today and I've seen some fight scenes and he's in no way supposed to be pit against Nolan Batman.
No one is supposed to be pit against Nolan Batman.
Someone put MCU Thor against Nolan Batman and I'll assume he's underrated MASSIVELY and therefore start believing his real power levels are around DCEU level.
@subline: Like the gif I chose sub?

Yes, it quite clearly shows that 2 Cops > 5 Prisoners. Which means that Matt beating 4 Cops in 20 seconds is the same as beating 10 Prisoners in 20 Seconds. And Frank scales to Matt so Frank can beat 10 Prisoners in 20 seconds.
@richubs: Bats would beat Frank.
That Bats ain't beating anyone.
IDK. I picked yes since I think people focus too much on his physicals/PT in his battles. S1 of the Punisher didn't do him any favors skill wise but IMO, S2 did a good job showing how much better (heathly) Frank is than a group of trained mercs. A lot of his lowee showings, like the elavator fight against the cops were due to Frank being injured not long before the fight took place.
How is he underrated? It's clear that they've been trying to hammer home the idea that he's better when he's armed and his only edge in the MCU just like in the comics is that he can take an insane amount of damage and he's military trained so he's wired different as far as how he fights. He was trained to kill. Daredevil won't dig his thumbs into your eyes or beat your face in with a 20lb dumbbell but Frank would.
No one has to have a billionth degree black belt in every martial art ever created (that uses belts) to be dangerous in unarmed combat.
@paytience: Melinda May?
He's a tank as a fighter, but he's nowhere near the upper echelon of combatants in the MCU when it comes to skill.
He's a good shot, he can take a beating, but he's not some master martial artist.
@richubs: but, but he beat Bane
The problem is that a lot of people are using a very narrow definition of skill. They treat it like dodging hits is the only thing that matters. But defense doesn't win fights. The reality is that Frank Castle wasn't trained in that ninja stuff, because he was trained in immediately killing and had a talent in delivering blows which deal maiming, permanently scarring damage. In every fight with Daredevil, he was still holding back.
He’s massively underrated
He did well against Daredevil and people like to forget that for some reason to reinforce some narrative. He also dismantled those mercs in S2.
@hulkbusterx9: Yeah no. Melinda May would not look at at all fighting him. She'd win probably but it's ugly. Bobbi might pull it off. Like, I'm saying the people who definitively beat him don't do it looking pretty. Punisher's biggest skill is his ability to turn fights into brawls...but he is very good. It's really hard to look good against him...his technicals are all about taking your initiative and turning it into the kind of fight he likes.
People can say he isn't a high tier martial artist...but in his S02 bathroom fight he defended simultaneous knife attacks from the front and back by two trained mercs, and didn't get tagged unless he was in a position so dominant that the hits did not matter.
@paytience: What if Bobbi had her signature weapons? Would she look good then or no?
