Poll Is Iron Man (MCU) under-rated? (90 votes)
I's say yes, because people always bring up Cull to downplay him.

Yes, to a degree. Not many of his best comic feats were transferred to the big screen, and I think that's why many of his armor-sets weren't that appealing. He also seemed to be a tad dumbed-down than his comic counterpart.
No. He is overrated. The Wakanda Files, an in cannon book, shows Suri questioning lots of technical aspects of Stark's armor.
IW Iron Man is to a very significant extent. I have failed to see any credible arguments as to why he doesn't easily compare to a number of MCU high tiers physically. People like to cite his fights against Cull as if Cull overpowered him or something when that never happened. Cull never even hurt Tony in any notable way.
No, in my opinion, he is too overrated...

That's literally irrelevant. Shuri is just an hype character with no decent combat feats of her own and "questioning the technical aspects of Stark's armor" means nothing.
Unless the writer of the book actually explains how to create Iron Man-like armor in real-life (LOL) that's just a fancy way of making Shuri seem even more annoying than she already was.

What are you talking about? I only care about feats, and Tony has enough on-screen feats to give a good fight to nearly everyone.

Iron Man was already able to create suits strong enough to match Hulk, but they did lack durability. He created a stronger and far more versatile suit yet people still believe that Wonder Woman or Hulk could beat him.

Ant-Man's Hank Pym Is Officially The MCU's Greatest Genius
"And yet, it seems he was wrong. Marvel has recently published The Wakanda Files, a collection of in-universe technical records collected by Shuri as she attempts to create new super-soldiers. They certainly demonstrate her genius, and she effortlessly understands Tony Stark's designs - and is even a little irritated at them. "Moving parts mean mechanical failure," she criticizes. "What is the first thing Stark does to Fury's giant airborne Titanics when he gets ahold of the plans? Replaces the moving parts. He must see the same flaws in his own designs, yet he refuses to address them." She's rather more impressed with Hank Pym, though, and when considering his Quantum Pod - seen in Ant-Man & the Wasp - she admits she can't understand how he came up with it.
"There are no words to express the envy I feel toward Lang and Pym for their time in the Quantum Realm. Pym's quantum mechanics research is exciting. The possibilities for transportation improvement...
How did Pym get his hands on an EM-drive that works outside of a vacuum chamber? We have been attempted to create a Mach-effect thrust without a reactionary force for months, maybe years. It defies the laws of physics. Unless the Quantum Realm acts as a vacuum chamber? That would prove Heisenberg's principle of a quantum vacuum. So many questions. We must talk with Pym. Immediately."
Shuri is much more impressed with Pym tech, as she should be.
@just_sayin: Except this proves exactly nothing and it's just an opinion of an in-universe character.

To quote Hank Pym:
I spent thirty years protecting that technology from a Stark, I sure as hell don't intend to give it to another! This isn't cute technology like the Iron Man suit! This could change the techs of reality!
@just_sayin: Again, this proves nothing.

Comparing Stark tech to Pym tech is like comparing manure to ice cream.
@just_sayin: Except the fact that Stark tech has better feats.
Seriously??? It is Pym tech that saves the day in Endgame. Stark does nothing for 5 years after the snap until Scott Lang talks about the quantum realm. Without access to the quantum realm there is no time travel. Who created Pym particles that allowed access to the quantum realm, which Stark was not able to replicate? Yep Pym. Even in the movie, after traveling to the past, Stark and Captain America steal more Pym particles to go home.

I'm still waiting for a show or movie where the character hasn't had the nerf bat swung hard at them. I can't honestly think of anything where that hasn't happened at the moment.

Nah, Stark discovered time travel. Pym was calling it cute cause that’s his opinion, he's never made an iron man suit so it's only his opinion. He knows almost nothing about it.
And Shuri is nothing but a hype character.

Yeah, and Stark was the one to discover time travel. Not pym. Hell, Fitz is smarter than Pym.
He is overrated a fair bit. He's an excellent example of a mid-tier. He can hang with the high for very short bursts due to specialized tools. But he usually only gets one decent shot in and then well....... gets destroyed.
People can hate on the Cull fight all they want but they went to the trouble to show Cull putting Stark on the ground and tanking all hits easily not once but three times across two movies. It's very clearly where he caps out.
His intelligence is underrated. Not only did he create Ultron and time travel, but he did both in like a few days.
It's 50/50 on the forums, but he's very underrated outside. People generally put him in the same tier as Cap, Spider-Man, Drax, etc, on sites like reddit or quora.

That would be a feat for Cull.
@tony_stark82: Same Cull that gets wrecked by Black Panther, Spiderman and Professor Hulk?
@greysentinel365: Both times were when Spider-Man or T Challa came out of nowhere and he proceeded to immediately throw him too the first time. Spider-Man doesn't have the feats to beat someone who can tank blows from Iron Man, Hulkbuster, and Worthy Cap anyway.
Hulk never fought Cull, I don't know what you are exactly talking about.
No. He is overrated. The Wakanda Files, an in cannon book, shows Suri questioning lots of technical aspects of Stark's armor.
Because his tech is beyond her understanding.

Stark isn't able to do anything without Pym particles which he wasn't smart enough to replicate. Stark is dependent on Lang to provide the key ingredient.
This isn't cute technology like the Iron Man suit! - Hank Pym
Lmao the amount of Iron Man fanboys in this thread should be enough proof of how overrated he is
Based on what? People lowball using the CW suit.
Lmao nvm, I must have misread the thread. Looks about 50/50 to me.
People lowball using the CW suit.
Ignore those idiots, I would say. Lowballers exist for every character.
Its unfair to compare pym with stark as both are innovators and geniuses of their own designs. Stark happens to be a genius in one area while pym is a genius in another.
