Yes it can. When it travels far enough, it builds up enough Kinetic Force that it can actually cause more damage than a motivated punch from Superman. This is why Prometheus sought to have Steel's Kinetic Hammer thrown from the FREAKING MOONto the Earth to kill untold millions in the process (Thankfully, this plan was averted before it could materialize).
I'm not too familiar with Steel's abilities, but not many can stand up to Iron Man.

But to the topic: Steel wins with ease, he is simply stronger, faster and more durable possibly smarter even. I doubt Stark's tech is going to harm Steel that much
@son_of_simba: Thor probably holded back extremely much with that hit. Steel gone toe to toe with Doomsday, we all know Stark stands 0 chance against him.
I'm sure there is context behind Steel taking on Doomsday, but for arguments sake, Tony doesn't need to be super powerful to defeat someone made of metal. Magnetism, EMPs, energy manipulation, and hacking can all be used to take him down.
As someone who knows both characters, which is more than I can say for the people who said iron man, Steel wins this, his armor is made to combat threats at Supermans weight class.
Doomsday treated Steel the same way every single Superman villain did, easily overpowering him without Steel giving him too much trouble. Just because he wasn't godstomped doesn't mean he was going toe-to-toe with him, and same goes for other Superman level beings he fought with. I mean he was strong enough to hold his own against Eradicator, but Eradicator was defeated by the weakest version of Post-Crisis Superman.
Anyway, I read only few comics with Steel and the only thing I have seen so far was him not getting totally curbstomped while fighting High Tiers, and Tony did the same multiple times. I don't know much about Steel so is there any reason why Tony won't be able to bypass his durability and/or shut down his suit (magnets, EMPs, hacking, technopathy, high temperatures, repulsor blade, sonics...). Plus, what feats he has to prove he is stronger, faster or more durable than Iron-man?
Steel has a punchers chance in this one. But Iron Man's suit is more versatile. I feel like even with a little of one-sided prep, Steel would win though.
