Thor rips him apart

Avatar image for azazole

This is a close fight that ends in Thor's favour. He was taking hita from the Hulk without problem so his blunt force durability wont be overwhelmed by Ironman's attacks. He ate a dwarf star blast for nearly a minute as well as his giant spaceship exploding and floating in space so Iron man's fire power isn't enough to put him down. Only probably is that Ironman might be able to stab him but we've seen that doesnt slow him down. And besides, Tony would.have to get close and Thor's lightening cloak wont allow that. I think Thor overwhelms the Nanite suit before eventually defeating Tony after a very hard battle.

Thor 6 or 7 outta 10

This would be a close match. Lightning will just be absorbed again and Tony can clearly take his attacks. Iron Man has no way of putting Thor down though so he'd lose eventually.

I don't think Tony would be able to just absorb post-Ragnarok Thor's lightning, since it was very clearly a lot more powerful and upgraded since they fought in Avengers. There's also the fact that apparently Thor was weakened when he fought Tony and Steve in Avengers, so that might have reduced the potency of his lightning even further..

Tony's only chance is if this goes into melee, but even then Thor would win IMO. It would just be a closer battle.

Tony can win since Thor can't fly. Just has to bombard him with repulsor beams and lasers then fly in when the oppurtunity presents itself to deal lethal slashing damage.

This isn’t a stomp considering how well Iron Man did against Thanos with more stones than Hulk did against Thanos with one stone. Also Ragnorak Thor never fought Thanos since they all got wrecked in the beginning of IW.

But I’ll side with Thor. His only problem is tagging Iron Man who should be much faster. But Thor lightning can close that gap

First round, Thor wins 7/10

Bonus round, Thor wins 9/10.

We don't know the specific parameters in which Thanos beat Thor, which is the direct way we can scale the abilities of these two characters. We also have to take into account the fact that Thor had been fighting for a long time when he encountered Thanos, so he was likely very injured and exhausted.

Ironman did extremely well against Thanos, but many of his feats come from the fact that Thanos is a really large target. His hammer punches could work because Thanos is easy to hit, his missiles and explosives worked for the exact same reason. Thor will be dodging many blows Tony can put out that did tag Thanos. He has pretty impressive reflexes, as shown during his fight with the Hulk and Hela.

Ironman laser and repulsor blasts, while would be the easiest way to do the most damage to Thor at further range, won't do much to Thor, considering the fact that the same injured Thor took an explosion that blew up the Asgardian refugee ship. (I'm assuming when you say "Ragnarok Thor", you mean the Thor in that movie, not that we can ONLY use feats from that movie).

Thor will face some trouble if Tony enters melee and runs back to use his range weaponry in quick succession, during which Tony can heal his nanosuit. This is the only reason why Thor gets a 7/10, because if done long enough, eventually Thor will be taken down, but I'm confident that Thor will be able to apply sufficient damage to Ironman before he takes Thor down (Thor is wayyy to tanky).

You are correct, all feats for Thor can be used, I mainly specified Ragnarok Thor so people know this is a Thor without Mjolnir or Stormbreaker.

@darkthunder: Iron Man's Infinity War armor never lost to Cap and would stomp Captain America. He was one-shotted casually by Thanos.

Avatar image for darkthunder

@noone1996: I agree bleeding edge never defeated cap but thor can definitely beat him. I am saying that cap beat a flying iron man not infinity war iron man. So Thor is stronger than cap so he can beat flying iron man

@darkthunder: First of all, it's not even that simple when he "beat" Iron Man. Cap was getting stomped 1 on 1 and would have lost if not for Bucky. In fact, the amount of damage Tony sustained was mainly due to the fact that he was taking two on at once. Second of all, that's a different armor so that ABC logic doesn't work anyway. That's like saying Cap can take on the Hulk-Buster armor because he beat Iron Man's Civil War armor.

Avatar image for nucleon

Based on Thor's prologue encounter with Thanos, IW Iron Man can at least equal that. Okay, there's much we don't know about that fight, but IMO Thor became capable of hurting Thanos only when he got Stormbreaker.

Thor wins 6/10 because he has deeper, more raw resources, but before it happens Iron Man can look good. The electricity round is an two-edged sword, as it damages Iron Man as much as it amps him.

Tyrion said that it would take a few minutes to melt the metal, so he took the full force of the star for more than one minute.

@noone1996: yes but Thor is on a different level. He's fought hela who has decent feats as a villain. Staying on par with her is big feat. And lightning cloak Thor was like taking her spears without an injury so win for Thor. Thor is also much more experienced and skilled than iron man

What piercing resistance feats does Thor have besides taking bullets?

Avatar image for amendment50

Iron Man. Obviously Thor was really injured at the start of IW, but even still, he couldn't even budge Thanos while Iron Man actually gave a decent fight. And he is way more versatile and his suit can regenerate. Not to mention that inferior Iron Man suits have shown a resistance to Thor's lightning.

What piercing resistance feats does Thor have besides taking bullets?

Having his head held against shattering crystal shards violently(as confirmed by a Ragnarok VFX supervisor) while going at extreme speeds and without any damage at all. Source

"That thinking lead to the idea of sticking a head into the edge of the Bifrost. When that happens, the head and bodies are hit with a barrage of Bifrost crystal shapes.“It’s almost like their bodies become like an umbrella in a huge shower of crystal shards,” adds Morrison. “It starts feeling violent, and I kind of knew that the sound guys at Skywalker would be able to run with something like that and give us a really quite immersive experience.”

“We tried shafts of light but it did not feel dangerous or exciting enough,” adds Burnheim, in terms of what Rising Sun Pictures devised for the shards. “We also tried a splash as if someone fell from a boat and hit the water at high speed but when simulating at the correct speed became messy and confused the story. We finally settled on a shattering effect which tied into some of the refractive nature that we had built into our initial look of the Bifrost. We played with speed, size of the shards and the lighting influences our characters had on their surroundings to give us the final look.”

He also has much better piercing durability than most Asgardians scaling to Hela's blades. Said weapons barley cut Thor more than an inch or so but cut clean through regular Asgardians without any issue. Infact they have even cut through Skurge's armor that was confirmed to be Uru(That actually holds up as consistent overall as Thor seemed to be more durable than Uru against the star).
