Infinity war avengers Vs. Steppenwolf/Parademons

Maybe some of the weaker ones like Captain America or Rhodes die, but they definitely beat Thanos. If Thor did to Steppenwolf what he did to Thanos, Steppenwolf would dead regardless of whether he aims for the head or not.

Stephen Wolf? I cannot begin to speak how much of a failure that was on DCU. (I am Endeavoring to pretend the whole thing didn't transpire) Having said this, with Thor upgrades from Ragnarok to Infinity War I could definitely discern him soloing this encounter.

Strange would scare him and he'd run.

Perhaps. I don't see it though. With Thor, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, War, Machine(who's underrated and has insane firepower)and Vision. That's 5 people who can arguably solo Steppenwolf.

Since Parademons are just fodder it all comes down to 5 heavy hitters against Steppenwolf. Take one of them away and they will just keep the battlefield clean from those Parademons leading to a 4 v 1 with one of the members being Thor debated against superman.
