Centuries. Humans are reproducing much faster than Coronavirus is killing. 360k babies are produced a day. Coronavirus death toll is 81k to date. Nevertheless, they'll find a vaccine in a year's time and eradicate it.

Death rate is around 1 %, when people get proper treatments. If we were to let it spread uncontrollably, it would infect 50-75% of the population before we managed to produce a vaccine, and there would be so many sick people that almost no one would get the necessary medical care, and the death rate would be closer to 10%.

At that point we would gain the herd immunity, and the virus would no longer be able to spread effectively.

So the worst case scenario is around 500 000 000 dead people, assuming our society doesn't collapse, and virus doesn't mutate into something worse.

Enough people have the anti-bodies/are in communities that aren’t badly affected that even if we stopped reproducing and never found a vaccine likely less than 50% would even get it. But even if 100% of people got it less than 10% would die given that it’s only really dangerous for people with pre-existing conditions/elderly people. There’s literally no way that Covid-19 will ever kill 50% of the world’s population. A better thread would be can Corona kill .50% of the world’s population tbh. (None of this is to say that we shouldn’t take Corona seriously, it poses a very real health threat to millions of people across the globe, but it’s not an apocalypse-level event.)
