High Powered Character Tournament

Hello all. I'm going to run a character tournament here just as soon as I can find a polling program to use. I already know of some bracket software. I've run these tournaments on other boards with great feedback. They've been fun. Deadpool won my martial arts competition over Captain America in the finals by the way. I wanted to start a high-powered character tourney here with the following characters.

I would like your feedback on who should be in and who is out as I am only allowing 64 combatants. Your help is appreciated.

Stick with the 64 you named for DC and Marvel to make things simple.

But he did not state that he had not either.

His intital posting indicated running these tournamanets on other boards.

He may have already used lists similar or even the same.

Lets wait for the Pharaoh's response.

I don't think putting Goku in this will change a thing... But, then again, you're blinded by your love of DBZ to the point were he wins without logic. Sad...

And why would it matter if he did win anyway? These are just musings; it's not like battles involving fictitious comic characters are meant to represent anything important (sorry for the brutal honesty but someone had to act pragmatically here).

Man, I just hate when people worship Goku to the point where he could illogically win every battle there is. It's annoying.

One idea:

perhaps restrict counted votes to people who take the time to describe a plausible method a character would win.

I like this idea.

I ran a martial arts tournament and a female tournament. Deadpool and Wonder Woman were the winners. I'm running this one concurrent with another board. It'll be the first time I've done this, but this is my third tourney. The female tournament wasn't as organized. The Martial arts tourney went well. No projectiles were allowed. I tried not to allow teleportation, but that didn't go over well as Nightcrawler made it into the final four from an 11th seed. Here's the bracket from that tourney:

This is a good idea. I'll have to consider it. I'll tell you what, there is more activity here than on the other boards. If enough people ask, I'll put Goku in, but you have to give me a plausible argument. That goes for the other alternates as well. Tell me who's out as a result. Some of the alternates are alternates just because I thought of them later. What do y'all think of the "Heroes" characters or someone like Vader or Yoda?

Well if Goku's getting considered I want to see Cyborg Superman, Mr. Majestic, Spartan (3.0), Metamorpho and Dr. Light.

Darkseid is already in. Will add Mr. Miracle to alternates for now.

Give me your opinions on seedings. I'm not perfect or anything. I already think Vulcan should be higher. This was very difficult (but fun). Just let me know.

Swamp Thing is DC, not "alternate."

I would still stick to the original 64 (32 DC and 32 Marvel).

When you have the best 16 from each side, I would bleed in new opponents from all the options you have and eventually arrive at a winner.

You're right, however, Alternates are not alternates because they don't belong to a universe though, just because i'm not sure that they should be in or out.

Well if your end goal is to show the most powerful character, then bleed them in after 1 round.

If you only want DC vs Marvel, stick to your original 64 for now and then take the last 4 and put them up against any other DC or Marvel characters who may have slipped the net in the first cut.
