Penny for your thoughts on this battle?
(Barbatos only fights for the last 6 minutes in the third video)
@life_without_progress: Is it anywhere near city level?
@khael: Well, it survived an orbital strike.
@life_without_progress: What's it speed and durability like? I'm not about to watch 30 minute videos tbh.
@god_vulcan: It's speed was so fast to the point that in it's most powerful state, other skilled mobile suit pilots can't perceive how fast it was moving during a one on one fight against an opponent that was beating all other mobile suits that came in direct combat with it easily during earlier fights. When it was badly damaged to the point of losing an arm and the pilot mortally injured after said orbital strike, the Barbatos was still capable of blitzing multiple, active, undamaged mobile suits in a fight while having it's tail as its only functioning weapon.
As for it's durability, it's armor can resist up to atmospheric entry levels of heat as of halfway through season 1 and as I've said, it could still put up a fight after being struck by an orbital strike.
@azureus: Its nanolaminated armor is good enough to tank a beam attack capable of city busting.
Also the nanolaminated armor is capable of orbital re-entry with just a small shield to aid it.
Fast enough to blitz ground units while dodging fire from multiple automatic cannons from several other mobile suits, while doing rinse and repeat on each attacker.
Took an orbital bombardment that was designed to actually take down this specific suit and still managed to take, while heavily damaged a dozen or so mobile suits down before finally being destroyed.
It can crush heavily armored suits with its claws and it is even worse if it is using its huge mace. Its tail can slice through multiple mobile suits at once.
Genos has very little chances here, they are comparable in the speed department with Genos having a slight edge. Strength, durability, skill and overall physical damage output goes to the Lupus Rex. Genos' main way to deal with threats is torching them and he seriously lacks the firepower to bypass the nanolaminated armor from the Barbatos, while Mika will go for the kill with either the mace or the claws and turn Genos into modern art, again.
Yeah, sadly Barbatos simply doesn't have the speed to contend, and Genos' flight and mountain level hits would make it a cakewalk for him to win.
@gilgameshthepimptoendallpimps: Genos' blasts are nowhere near mountain level, plus the Lupus Rex tanked a city busting blast. And if you are suggesting Genos' punches are mountain level, I'd love to see video/scans of that.
This should show that Genos is Mountain level in terms of energy output, and clearly above city-level (IIRC he rarely goes for fisticuffs so that shouldn't matter).
@gilgameshthepimptoendallpimps: "Note the smoke at the back of the image, you can see a burnt away mountain"
There is ONLY smoke on that pic, and the trail left just like the one closer to them, it is pretty obvious. Judging by the actual width of the path left by the blast, that's around city street wide... Plus yeah, while the length of it might be impressing, it is nowhere near mountain level, let alone city level... Genos severly lacks the energy projection damage output to even strain the nanolaminated armor from the Lupus Rex durability feats.
