@solarpowered:

That's a huge nerf for Vader.

As it stands he's have to maneuver around the Astartes and hack away with his lightsaber. Were this normal Astartes armor I'd say he could so rather easily. But seeing as how this is a Terminator it's probably going to take a good amount of punishment.

I'd say Vader has the speed to avoid any attacks launched against him, Terminator's being noticeably slower than a normal Space Marine.

@nuclearrebirth: Why do you think Vader's only option would be to maneuver around the terminator? Could he not simply parry the attacks?

A stock terminator is probably going to lose here due to the speed disadvantage. A paladin, on the other hand, could do it.

@solarpowered:

Seems to me that most of a Terminator's armament would be hard to parry with a lightsaber. Storm Bolter rounds would be reduced to deadly shrapnel instead of being reflected or disintegrated and a chainfist or power sword would come in with too much force behind it. I also think that a Terminator's durability is good enough to take several lightsaber hits, even in the same location.

I suppose Vader could block attacks with telekinesis since that wouldn't be an offensive maneuver.

Space Marines can react to Hypersonic Vader. One good hit and Vaders done.

Space Marines can react to Hypersonic Vader. One good hit and Vaders done.

IIRC, Blaster bolts are faster than bullets, and Vader repels those with ease. Even at point blank range.

@solarpowered: Blaster bolts are not confirmed to be faster than bullets. In fact it's thought that they are actually slower than bullets. Source?

Vader wins against a no-name terminator, but paladins or any named terminators could kill him.

Hypersonic is the speed. Here is what Space Marines done.

In both scans Space Marines can process and react in a time frame of micro Seconds. The other scan states Nanosecond even though that is very much a stretch. Comfortable micro seconds though is Hypersonic reaction time though.

4 accounts of Space Marines reacting and dodging to Bolters after they are fired at them. Bolters which are faster than modern day assault rifles.

Another scan states the hundreds of years of training and experience, with honed reactions of a Space Marine can block Bolter rounds on their arms, and weave around laser fire without ever feeling its heat. The last one is a Astartes seeing a stated impossible fast missile coming at him which he blocks fine with his liquid metal of a arm.

Named or paladin take it most time. Normal one may go either way in a hard fight since Vader can still use TK to defend.

@sirfizzwhizz:

Those are very impressive feats but Tactical Dreadnaught armor makes an Astartes much slower than usual. I also feel like hypersonic reaction speeds might be an outlier.

This is not really true. Many Space Marines have shown to be as fast or slowed down. Depends on the Marine. Many times in the lore a Space marine in terminator armor moves still faster than the one in Power Armor. It has happen many times.
