Ohh btw .. what's this brain injury killing characters you're talking about? We agreed on they're getting killed by at least decapitation or smashed/busted into nothing .. brain injury can happen through shot/stabbed to the head ..hell even a concussion might give one. But both of our characters would likely survive a shot/stab to the head .. i agree that decapitating .. or completely smashing/blasting the head off will kill them .. but a simple injury to the head won't .. so you adding that part in the rules might disqualify our characters by default .. and i didn't even knew or agreed to anything like this iirc.

Eh..

You are not supposed to survive decapitation, having half of your brain blown off or having a sword in your amygdala. I'll edit it to decapitation/destruction of brain and scratch the last one.

The Scotsman is one of the strongest characters in the "Samurai Jack" cartoon. He's one of the most wanted man on the entire Earth and he's the most loyal friend of Jack. He has proven to the Samurai to be an formidable foe who was able to stalemate with him for days. He's not only incredible skilled and powerfull but in addition to that he's also very eloquent and brave scottish warrior who basically doesn't know what's fear.

Scotsman has proven to be Jack's equal strength-wise.

You can see Jack's struggling to block Scotsman strike. It's worth to mention that it was an casuall one-handed strike.

How strong is Jack?

Jack has deceptive raw strength for his lean frame, able to cleanly cut through all advanced machines and robots (besides adamantium Ultrabots) without effort. He can easily throw opponents much larger than himself. Also, following his training with the blue monkeys, his strength increased immensely, able to jump about while weighed down all over by large rocks and boulders. In building up his muscles for this improved physical prowess, he also gained the ability to jump about hundreds of feet into the air, even from a stationary position.

Scotsman is Jacks equal in terms of reflexes and combat speed. Why? Because they were fighting evenly for two days without a break. Jack couldn't penetrate Scotsman's defenses despite having insane speed.

Gear

".. Magic runes laddie! All of those fancy moves will get you to nowhere. Now quit your jumping around and GET TO FIGHTIN'!

Main weapon: A scottish Claymore. Long sword that gives him vast reach advantage in a fight. Seems to have the same cutting power as Jacks sword and it's insanely durable due to magical runes. Jack's sword can destroy normal weapons and effortlessly cut steel. Still, when Jack decided to do a finishing move, that should be able to destroy any weapon, Scotsman sword survived it without a scratch. As if that's not enough, when Scotsman physical body will die, the sword will resurrect him as ghost. He is able tospeak with living beings, fly and play on his pipes. While playing he can affect the physical world. He was seen creating a bridge with his music, stun his opponents with loud music and create huge, castle-sized barrier, that could protect everyone inside from physical attacks such as arrows and flying spikes. Just for the record, those spikes were able to oneshot advanced, futuristic war machines.

  • Secondary weapon. SMG which seems to be attached to his body. Bullets from this smg can oneshot advanced killer robots. Incredibly useful tool, since he can easily access it during combat and help Gorgon out.
  • Granades. Scotsman possess bombs-granades in his gear, Some of them work like normal granades but he also has one with far greater destrucitve potential. One bomb cuold demolish an entire building or ship.
  • Bagpipes. Music instrument. Used in ghost form to stun his foes.
  • Round shield. Shield that he carriers on his back. Bulletproof.

Skill

".. My sword is bigger than yours!"

Samurai's equal in swordsmenship, nuff said. Jack couldn't penetrate his defenses and Scotsman couldn't penetrate Jack's defenses.

How good is Jack?

Master Swordsman: Jack's signature and arguably greatest skill is his performance with a sword. Jack's style relies primarily on swiftness and precision in his strikes, balancing with strong defensive stances that parry his opponent's strikes until finding an opening for a decisive blow.

Jack was stated to be the best swordsman in his respective universe. He defeated an army of the very best warriors, gathered from several different worlds. He also literally stomped Earth's best bounty hunters. jack was training since he was a kid and travelled across the entire world to master every known fighting technique. Scotsman being his equal is an incredibly impressive skill feat. Anyway, that should suffice for now, it's time for signature pony gif:

Bio

Sword

Through his career Gorgon was seen using sword of vast power, Godkiller. Ancient and incredibly sharp blade, that made him even more dangerous.

After killing young god, Gorgon took the second one, the grasscutter. A powerful blade, one that could even hurt a god, as seen when Phobos stabbed his father Ares, staining the blade with his blood.

But as impressive its cutting capabilities may be, Tomi also benefits from the most basic assets of the sword. I'll just quote myself:

".. Significant advantage that comes with the sword is often overlooked and comes down to boring statement that it's cutting/piercing damage. Truth to be told, ability to slash your opponent like a butter can really come in handy but let's look at two other factors:

  • Reach
  • Tempo control

Sabre or fencing sword can be almost 1 meter long, imagine having an arm twice the usual lenght with one crucial difference - it can easily decapitate your opponent, cut his limb or slit his throat. Range helps in various ways, it allows him to attack an enemy from relatively safe and keep him at bay. What's most important though it lets you control the tempo of a fight.

But before tempo, let's start with the fact that if your opponent has comparable physical and you aren't more skilled hand to hand combatant than he is swordsman, you are in trouble. Obviously it's possible to disarm him but under circumstances I mentioned above, it's really unlikely because good fencer will keep you at distance. Not only unarmed fighter will have hard time getting close to an armed opponent but also risks receiving fatal injury or bleeding wound that will weaken him over time. Swordsmen attack and opponent has to do anything to avoid it, letting armed opponent to control how the fight flows. If he wants to slow down, he can do that and keep unarmed fighter at distance, he want to pick up the pace? No problem at all .." Keeping opponent at distance and controling tempo is the most important aspect that heavily influences Scotsman and Gorgon team strategy .

Speed

Unfortunately, it's time for small scan avalanche, but that's the only such sectionm, I promise. Tomi Shishido possess inhuman speed that surpassess even that of well-established characters like Wolverine and Elektra. He has shown time and time against that he is that fast.

Above Gorgon cut out of the air Yo-Yo Rodruqyez A.K.A Slingshot. Disbelief of her teammates is understandable, if we take into account that she could move at incredible speed, speedster like speed. |1|2|. Gorgon surprise Logan in similar manner. Gorgon is too fast for characters that are bullet timers themselves, and so he can effortlessly block gunfire or cut bullets out of the air.

Tomi cut them right before they could hit Strucker, self-explanatory. It's hardly his best bullet timing feat though, on two separate occassion Tomi, without any sign of strain, could protect himself from several shooters at once. Secret Warriors

Also, Elektra. One of the best assassins in the world, et cetera et cetera. What's important is her speed and she is fast enough to block fight the likes of Daredevil, block gunfire with her sais (pretty darn impressive if we take into account small blocking area) or moving FTE, too fast even for Frank Castle.

Tomi pretty much cut the rifle, therefore forcing Elektra to miss the shot. The fact that he did that in front of entire group of people is quite impressive if we take into account that nobody noticed him moving.

Skill

".. Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment .."

A brief overview to avoide creating a respect thread. In official power grid, Tomi's skill was rated as 6. Score equal and higher to the likes of Steve Rogers or Matthew Murdock. Now, obviously those things aren't really reliable, but Gorgon consistently went up and beat people who are master fighters. Let me start by saying that Gorgon uses telepathy to predict opponent movements. The thing is that despite knowledge of what come next, he needs the skill to counter it and bypass opponents defenses. Personally I like to use that quote:

".. An ability and capacity acquired through deliberate, systematic, and sustained effort to smoothly and adaptively carryout complex activities or job functions involving ideas (cognitive skills), things (technical skills), and/or people (interpersonal skills) .."

No matter how good Gorgon's telepathic abilities are, he needs fighting skill to properly exploit acquired knowledge. Fighting skill is nothing more but movements, teaching your muscles to react in proper way, learning how to most effectively attack your opponent, how to stop his attempts to defeat you and many more things. It's all learned through repetition. Gorgon might predict his opponent movements but it was his fighting abilities that allowed him to beat both Elektra and Wolverine at once. It was his skill that allowed him to kill a god in an intense battle, despite the fact that the latter was hitting with enough speed to leave afterimages or at least move FTE. Gorgon can proudly stand beside Marvel finest martial artists, even without reading their intentions.

Twin Swords

".. Get the fundamentals down, and everything you do will rise .."

Basics. Perfect communication. No fancy plans.

It's easy to create a perfect synergy and come up with a plan that will blow half of the city. But let's be honest, unless two characters know each other and worked together for quite some time, any plan that is too complicated will fail. Lack of coordination is as hindering as lack of communication during combat. Gorgon and Scotsman doesn't have any overly complicated combo or synergy, they focus on the most fundamental aspects of their characters, swords that cut everything like butter and speed to make each strike potentially lethal. Skill to properly wield a blade and speed to force your opponent to dodge and constantly roll away. Thus controlling tempo of the fight and creating a safe distance between them and their opponents, large enough to keep unarmed fighter at bay, short enough to interrupt any attempt of using ranged abilities. Control, that's what proper swordsmenship grants ( see sword section). Furthermore, Gorgon can telepathically communicate with Scotsman and vice versa, allowing them to coordinate their actions. It's Scotsman time to shine, with his SMG and explosives. He wouldn't be able to use them if he was unarmed but the situations looks different with sword, he actually can create space to help Gorgon out with barrage of bullets or explosive. In an intense battle, small distraction is enough to finish an opponent, especially when you wield a weapon.

Constant pressure, two insanely sharp weapons and perfect communication combined with Scotsman's ability to support Gorgon with explosives and SMG.
