2 punches ended him. Gohan was already losing to SSJ2 Goku. But this reminds me that Gohan said he's not going to follow goku in achieving a new super saiyan transformation. But that he will achieve a new ultimate form that no one has seen before. If Toei hasn't forgotten this, it could be a good way to redeem Gohan as a cool fighter.

When did two punches from Blue Goku end him. I hope you're not using Blue Kaioken as a measuring stick since that in itself would be irrelevant in putting him at Blue level anyway. I also don't see how Gohan saying that he's going go his own path in power is relevant to him rivaling Blue, but anyway we see him take hits and asks Goku to give him more:

We also see him fight a max speed Dyspo who could swap hands with God Goku and take a hit from Blue and threatened Golden Frieza that he'd take him down if he betrayed them. He isn't as strong as Goku's Blue form overall, but he's definitely in the realm albeit slightly weaker.
