Wait...Surter destroyed an entire..planet, well atleast the explosion/destruction of Asguard is planetary..sooo, but Asguard looked much like an island..
Not impressed with Surtur. I think the Asguard feat was more magical than a show of his strength. Id give it to Godzilla.
@blackestnight93: He is, but that wouldn’t even affect Godzilla, considering that he took the Permian extinction meteor which is equal to about 2,000,000 tsar Bombas.

I'm aware of Godzilla's feats. I just want to make sure I have a correct estimation of Surters power level. From what I've been hearing, he's anywhere between city level and planetary depending on who you ask
@blackestnight93: You do realize Asgard was about 20km. This is absolutely no where near planetary.

I know. I don't personally think the feat is planetary, but some people do, such as comment 6. Either way, from what I hear, the destruction of Asgard also killed Surter himself. If this is the case, I don't see Surter winning at all, since godzilla has the durability feats to tank Surters kamikaze attack
@blackestnight93: Yes, Surtur would kill hinder, and a 20 kilometer explosiom is nothing to someone who can take castle bravo with ease.
@jaqua524: Yeah, cut someone in half who took the power of 2,000,000 tsar Bombas.
This gif perfectly represents that movie. Everytime Godzilla showed his face it cut to another scene
@webinyoureye11: I hope the sequel doesn't do that. It seems lazy (like they didn't want to animate the rest of the fight) and frustrates a significant amount of the audience. I believe cutting away would've been better if the only monster was Godzilla. But cutting right at the start of a fight?
Surtur wins if he uses his sword effectively against Godzilla. Sure Godzilla is a tank, but I doubt he'd tank multiple attacks from a sword that strong and damaging Surtur will be difficult. The breath likely won't be effective. MUTOs could faze Godzilla and I doubt they have anywhere near as much destructive as Surtur's sword. Godzilla can push Surtur around, but keeping him down is the issue. Maybe after the sequel Godzilla will be able to win, but for now, I see Surtur winning this.
@apocofist: when was she hit with a meteor during the movie ?
Godzilla didn't even bother acknowledging that the Permian Meteor directly clashed into him.
Surtur aint doing anything.
For everyone saying Godzilla has easy-mode in this... just remember this is the 2014 version and that Prime Surtur was tall enough that his head was in the clouds above Asgard.
Godzilla apparently Survived the Permian Mass Extinction caused due to the Permian Meteor Strike.
Personally I don't remember that instance from the movie but if it's true than Surtur won't even tickle him.
The Permian Mass Extinction wiped out 97% of all life on Earth. Asgard's destruction is practically nothing compared to that. The explosion would have an unimaginable yield of millions of Tsar Bombas.
@deltahuman: @rbt: @mr_shazam0920: This is from the canon tie-in comic:
Notice how he was directly at ground zero and he didn't even acknowledge the meteor.
He doesn't really need this feat though, tanking Castle Bravo should be more than enough to overcome Surtur's blade and lacklustre durability.
@apocofist: Wait, if he's that durable then does Kong even stands a shred of chance against him? That guy was getting hurt by bullets. Also, what's the castle Bravo.
@apocofist: oh no I’m not saying Surtur wins. I’m just asking when that happened. That’s all
@rbt: The Kong you saw from Skull Island was more or less a child that was still growing, a few decades have past since then so he's definitely getting his due buff to face-off against the Big G for 2020.
Castle Bravo was the 15 Megaton nuke tested at Bikini Atoll which can be seen Godzilla's (2014 film) opening sequence as B-roll.
@mr_shazam0920: The explanation was for the other people I tagged.
@apocofist: Huh, Godzilla has got some good feats. Never paid attention to them when watching the movie.
@rbt: Yeah his best feats have either already happened off-screen or in the tie in, not to discredit his other feats though and I guess you could blame the lack of focus on Big G due to the director's faithful but outdated choice of focusing on Kick-Ass rather than the damn title character.
But keep in mind though that throughout the movie Godzilla wasn't at peak performance, just imagine what he'd be like if he was just like his comic-state.
@apocofist: that’s a crazy feat for Godzilla. I’m wondering how the hell King Kong will ever be able to face that. I know he’s a baby but his entire race was wiped out by the “big” skull crawlers and those are pipsqueaks compared to Godzilla.
@mr_shazam0920: Kong either gets:
A). A magical buff, perhaps via Mothra.
B). A nuclear buff.
C. A special Genetic mutation (Think Godzilla's OP G-cells if thats even a thing in this continuity.)
D. PIS-lightning powers. (It happened in the original film).
@apocofist: so I guess the only MCU characters who can beat Godzilla are Dormammu, the Celestial with the power stone from GOTG1, and theoretically full IG Thanos.
