Galactus, being a planet eater and all, is truly, scary-powerful. He's really more powerful than a LOT of other beings. But here, when you put him up against Divine Spawn, that's where it ends for Galactus. Divine Spawn can pretty much do anything he wants to just about anybody he wants to, at just about anywhere and any time he wants to.

He's not that overrated. He's just had one too many low showings. Every time they want to hype up a character, they'll square him off against Galactus or one of his heralds (and sometimes it's mentioned off panel).
Galactus was originally written by Jack Kirby as being a villain so powerful, he'd be comparable to god. That is how Kirby originally intended the character to be. Since then, there have been far more powerful characters created, and Galactus has since been dethroned as the most powerful villain ever. But he did hold that seat once.

That's what I don't like about him (besides the character design). He's had very few showings of being as powerful as he is supposed to be yet he's hyped as this super special awesome indestructible force. He just bothers me XD

Yeah, I remember that. It was really somethin'.
It's also another good example of what I was talking about when I said that writers tend to hype characters up by matching them up with Galactus. And why his status has gone down the drain over the years.

God_Spawn goes for a quick workout before the battle. Upon entering the battlefield he does some quick stretches Goku style. Dons his Bane costume and roundhouse kicks Galactus in the head. He then heads back to the vine to continue his work as a mod.
