That doesn't make sense to me. "Don't see why he can't."? If his reactions aren't fast enough, then he can't. If you haven't seen him move that fast and his powers don't say he can, then he can't. Intangible isn't his default, so if he doesn't get a chance to turn intangible because he's too slow, him being able to won't matter.
Near light speed might as well be absolute if the enemy isn't fast enough to avoid getting killed right away.

He cant transmute organic materials such as living beings that is his limitation
he technically could transmute a lot of things into kryptonite. But i honestly see Superman prime punching firestorm in the face splitting him into both of his halves....er erase that superman prime punches firestorm so fast he doesnt have a head anymore
firestorm gets smoked, and if i remember correctly, he was there in the superman prime one shot, and didn't do jack! he's too much of a rookie and doesn't have the experience to deal with someone of primes brute strength and speed!

The new Firestorm can transmute organic materials, even human beings. The old one (Ronnie Raymond) cannot. Check the Firestorm page on this site...
