Meruem is the most intelligent, powerful and durable singular being introduced in the Hunter x Hunter so far.
Strength:
*Meruem was able to behead humans and weaker chimera ants with a single strike of his tail.
* Meruem was able to push through a Chimera Ant fortress wall with one hand effortlessly.
* Meruem was able to use his tail to fling himself atop a large tower effortlessly.
* A normal Chimera Ant, without using nen, can pick up chunks of concrete the size of cars. Meruem is so far beyond a normal Chimera Ant that he actually considered them food. His strength is beyond anything they could possibly have.
* None of his strength feats include the use of nen, a power that greatly enhances physical attributes, which he has an impossibly large abundance of. Very likely the most nen in the show, surpassing the next most powerful character by a significant amount.
Intelligence:
* Meruem was able to easily outwit his incredibly cunning Royal Guard Shaiapouf, who in turn was an incredibly cunning master manipulator.
* Meruem was able to adapt to any board game he played and easily outmaneuvered and beat world champions after only learning the rules of the game only minutes beforehand.
* Meruem is incredibly perceptive and is able to adapt incredibly fast to any new skill or power he receives.
* Meruem, as shown in his fight with Netero, was able to calculate all of the possible combinations his opponents Hatsu (special ability) had and adapt accordingly in less than a fraction of a second.
* Meruem is shown to be able to think, perceive and adapt to any intellectual challenge put into his path by observing and creating a plan based on the nature of the challenge's repetitive nature.
Durability:
*The only serious damage a living being ever inflected on him without the use of outside technology was himself after he tore off his own arm.
*Meruem survived against Netero's Hastu and zero hand attack taking little to no damage. Netero's attack involves a 100 foot golden statue with many limbs attacking an opponent faster than the speed out sound. Zero hand is a powerful attack that unleashes all of ones aura/nen into a massive direct attack. Meruem survived both taking only a small amount of damage.
*Meruem survived a point blank explosion from a nuclear bomb. Although he would have died had he not received the aid of his Royal guards, his body was still relatively intact. He later died from a poison released from the bomb.
* Nen increases ones strength and durability, Meruem did not need his nen when facing off against Netero. It is likely that he would be several times more durable than his base form without nen.
All of this is Meruem before he received a power upgrade from his two Royal Guards.
