I doubt Steppenwolf, the big turd that moves at a glacial pace, is somehow going to be fast enough to present a problem for Thanos. Don't even start with that ridiculous scaling.

Steppenwolf can't hurt Thanos.

Hard to say, considering the power level portrayals of that movie. Based on personal interpretation, Thanos should take this comfortably.

SW loses eventually.

He'll brush off the hits for the most part, but won't mean much when your opponent has more skill than you.

To me this 5/10 for either. If Thanos gets a good thrust at SW he can impale him and if SW gets a good swing on Thanos he might be able to cut him in half.

@redshift_bacon: Not every battle is decided by power scaling, but many other factors like, reach, speed, gear, durability, etc. Diana beats Thanos due to a sword that can clearly cut him in half. Steppenwolf would lose to Thanos because he has no means of hurting the guy beyond an Axe that Thanos would probably catch.

@batman242: Why wouldn't Thanos disarm Diana? He was able to Disarm Thor who has thousands of years of combat experience and Captain America who has used a shield his entire superhero career. Diana's sword was unable to wound Steppenwolf, who has worse durability feats than Thanos, so why do you assume it would work on Thanos, who snapped Tony's Sword in Half and outright CAUGHT Dr. Strange's Eldritch Sword with his bare hands.

I am not powerscaling. Steppenwolf and Thanos are practically the same opponent for Diana, and we already saw Steppenwolf Squash Diana and Aquaman at the same time. To state that Diana can solo Thanos is logically inconsistent.

I'd say that on a tactical basis, Diana would stay out of reach of the sword based on her performance against Wolf. Which really prevents her from getting any stabs in, since the length of that thing extends pretty far. It even spins!

@redshift_bacon: Steppenwolf can catch arrows from superhuman Amazons/hellfire missiles and can casually break a giant stone pillar underwater where drag force makes that massively more impressive, he's better than Thanos with and without scaling.

@rajjar: If Cap's fight with him was an indication of anything, it shows that if you overwhelm Thanos, he can't and won't swing the sword around. She has a lasso that she can grip Thanos with and bracelet's that clash harder enough to send Doomsday a being heavier and larger than Thanos several meters backward. Diana can gain an upperhand on Thanos especially due to her speed.

Thanos in a very long battle, it'd be really hard to put Steppenwolf down.

You got me. I was thinking in terms of a swords-only CQC. Though I would say transitioning between dual wield lasso and sword/shield would be time consuming for CQC.

And Thanos did end up cutting the shield into pieces, so I'd wonder if that would happen here.

True, Steppenwolf is very underrated. He's easily superior to Wonder Woman in nearly all categories. However, Wonder Woman's sword definitely could harm Thanos, while the same can't be said for Steppenwolf's axe.

Now that I think about it, Thanos doesn't really have any impressive piercing durability feats, so Steppenwolf might win after all.

@rajjar: Based on Diana's feats against DD, she's smarter than to just go in for CQC when she has other abilities and gear at her disposal, namely the bracelets that can disorient Thanos momentarily.

The Vibranium shield doesn't have any real durability feats due to it's inherent ability to absorb and sometimes redirect/deflect kinetic energy. I've always questioned how durable the metal is outside that ability and we never really see it. Diana's shield on the other hand has feats of durability against high tier characters and this leads to believe it would hold up well against a barrage from Thanos, given that she'd be too slow to maneuver out of the way.

Thanos wins. He is better in just about every way except maybe speed, which Steppenwolf relies on scaling.

Thanos obviously wins, there's no debate to be had here, Steppen must win in threads against MCU Hulk and Thor first

When asked why Dr. Strange didn't cut off his arm with a portal the Russos said it was because Thanos' skin was almost impenetrable.

This is backed up when he grabs Dr. Strange's magical blade directly.

Strange has cut off Cull Obsidian's arm, and Cull Obsidian is pretty tough himself. Drax was also able to stab Cull, but never cut through Thanos.

Now back up that cutting resistance with this blunt force durability resistance.

I think all of the Black Order members got nerfed heavily in Endgame, tbh. I didn't even know that Drax has met Cull though, are you kind enough to remind me what happened?

Thanos stomps. Dceu currently began to nerf heroes and villains to focuse more on comic accuracy, history, emotional character development etc.
