Gear 4th is too much a boost. Luffy's Haki has progressed to the point where it isn't a slaughter, but just looking at the difference between Gear 2nd and Gear 4th Luffy against the initial Cracker soldier should give a scale to how how large of a boost Gear 4th gives. Base Luffy is stronger then he was in all regards, but without access to at least Gear 2nd, Gear 4th still wins decisively.

At some point, Luffy's base will have to be as strong as Gear 4 Luffy from dressrosa (which was commander level.) Right now is the best time for that to make sense. I think Gear 4 at dressrosa has some advantages over current base namely strength but overall, his base stands a chance of at least outlasting gear 4. we wil have to wait and see how the new haki works before we can say he overpowers gear 4 and straight up takes the W.

The thing is G4 can't get through base Luffy's damage soak with the time limit on G4 he would need KKG to put base down for good

G4 was getting raggdolled also but base could take more although tbh G4 had ran out and would have taken at least same lvl of beating as base or more

G4 makes him too durable and unless I'm mistaken which I definitely could be I haven't noticed a drastic increase in base luffys speed. Without gear 2 at least I think base Luffy can't keep up with g4 even with future sight because of the speed difference

@deathhero61: But Future Sight is a great boost which would make it a bit hard for G4 to land hits consistently. And Luffy's CoA also improved during the Katakuri fight. Add Luffy's own monstrous endurance and it'll take a while to wear him down, while he can certainly harm the Dressrosa G4 due to better CoA.

This is not current G4, this is Dressrosa arc G4. And base Luffy after learning Future Sight has shown the ability to easily react to and dodge attacks that even G4 Luffy prior to that could not. Hence current Luffy's reactions are above that of Dressrosa arc G4 at the very least. I don't see what's hard to understand here.

Reaction speed is on Current Luffy's side, plus precog, but overall I do think G4th luffy stomps. Its too much of a difference. Even with the new skillset, his improved CoA isn't enough to actually harm G4 when it gave Doffy trouible.

We haven't seen the potency and how effective it is. For example would you say Lucci's Rokugan would be 100 percent just as effective as it was back then?

Would this version of Lucci be able to inflict the same amount of damage he did to Luffy back then with Rokuougan?
Sure it ignores durability somewhat, but we don't know how it would work out against something like G4 which is not only incredibly defensive and durable, but is covered in CoA to such an extent that it gave Doffy trouble putting him down.

We need more showings for Ryou first.

Wano Luffy will only win high-diff using G4, anything below outright loses.

Base Luffy can see enough of the future to know he is going to get his ass beat in about 8 seconds. He needs his amps or he is still massively out stated.

@exauce: Hmm I don't see Gear 2 and 3 being much help imo. Gear 2 will never be able to hurt Gear 4 luffy, Gear 3's hits are weaker than Kong Gun and will make him much slower than G4 Luffy. Only advantage Gear 3 has is stamina, while Gear 2 lacks stamina too (can only use in short bursts).

The only difference between the two is that Wano Arc Luffy has much superior CoO.

Gear 2 and 3 would lose quite badly as well imo, Wano Arc will still need Gear 4 to win the match 7/10.

@ebitan: Yes Gear 3 hits are weaker than King Kong Gun and not rethey are not that weaker than normal hits from Gear 4 Luffy, and True Gear 4 would be faster than Gear 3 but not by far

@exauce: Kong Gun is already stronger than Gear 3 hits bruh, Gear 3 Luffy did not even scratch Cracker's soldier while Kong Gun one-shotted it, the difference is like at least 5 times imo.

@exauce: Also, Gear 4 Luffy would blitz Gear3 bro, Gear 3 Luffy was a statue to Doflamingo while Gear 4 Luffy blitzed Doffy, the speed difference is just insane. Gear 3's Luffy one and only advantage compared to Gear 4 is his range, stamina and AoE.

Why would you think that WCI Luffy and Wano Luffy will have a HUGE difference in AP? Granted, there might be small improvements, but the main improvement imo is his CoO, instead of his raw power.

Who knows, maybe WCi Luffy could strike the dragon like that as well?
