Unless it's Bendis writing Thanos, Doom stands no chance at all. And this comes from a real Doom fan.

Well, the last time I read a story with Thanos in it, that was Bendis writing, so this Thanos would lose. So sad and stupid.

It sounds like it, but realistically this still probably goes to Thanos more often than not. The Silver Surfer with the Silver Surfers power couldn't take Thanos without his shields. He even stated he put out his most powerful blast and it didn't even make Thanos flinch. Thanos with his shields (which are pretty standard) would probably win this.

Also Thanos stated that he keeps Doom under constant surveillance, which would make any prep less useful.

1) thanks for the info on Doomsday

1) thanks for the info on Doomsday

2) I know Doom got the Beyonder's power but that is still not on Thanos level. He stole power from a naive noob. Thanos was led to the HOTU but he still had to use and manipulate many beings and achieved it before all seeing people like LT and Infinity found out about it. Dr. Doom even tried to get the power and failed.

3) DD does win this battle. With one sided prep he doesn't even need the surfers power.

1) You're welcome

2) Disagree, Beyonder was soo powerful he could afford to be naive. It's no different than Thanos' HOTU feat where he even admits the power was practically given to him, as he was "guided" to it and "preordained" to have it (in his own words). He acknowledges the fact. Doom was meant to fail. Thanos' best feats are all under the same writer, Dooms best feat was under Shooter but he's done great stuff since. I agree about the Beyonder being naive though. I don't have to agree with the story to accept the premise. Even in Thanos' run in the Infinity saga, I believe that he was amped by Death but I'm not sure, however she showed him the Infinity Well that showed him the location of each gem. He had way more prep and time than anyone else. Doom nearly succeeded anyways. I believe the Point the writers are trying to make is Doom and Thanos are long lost cousins from DC. lol jk

3) Agreed. 1 sided prep battles are pointless. They take place in comics just so characters can save face. On the vine they take place so Bats can defeat Darkseid etc..

Btw I found this and I thought you should know because you're the reason I figured it out.

Jim Starlin: Creator of Thanos

List of stories he wrote involving Thanos:
1) Thanos Quest (no way, crazy huh?)
2) Infinity Gauntlet
3) Infinity War
4) Infinity Abyss
5) Marvel The End
(Thanos acknowledges TOAA "guiding" him to the power, makes sense now huh..)

ALL of Thanos' bests feats are under 1 writer. Doom killing the Watcher and the Marquis of Death are from Miller, Doom defeating the PR Beyonder and PR Molecule man (easily over anyone Thanos has defeated) are from Shooter, Adam Warlock and Magus from Starlin, Dormammu from Slott, The list goes on with DIFFERENT writers... When Thanos changes writers he takes an exponential drop in power. The only consistency he has is being a tool. Half the time he's amped by Death.

Anyways Doom wins.

Doom = Thanos imo. Thanos has raw power whereas Doom has the mystical abilities. Both are kickass and if they ever joined together Marvel heroes/villains everywhere would be screwed lol

Plus Thanos was created in 1973, Doom in 1962. Doom is used more and Thanos is kind of like a villain they can use so that they don't have to use Doom, in order to keep his story going in different arcs.

@Supermanwithatan01: I understand why you think Doom is equal to Thanos in terms of prep. It just seems like after they get the power that Thanos does more with it. Doom couldn't even sleep when he had the Beyonder's power. Couldn't keep Cap America dead. Doom defeated the MOD. Thanos defeated Celestials and abstract beings. So in terms of achieving power I honestly see your point. But in terms of harnessing and effectively using that power, I think Thanos has "prepped" himself to make him more suitable for that much power.

Doom couldn't kill cap because the Beyonder made it that way before he lost his power. On the planet no one could die unless they were wiped from existence. Doom defeated the MOD with no power source or artifact. As a matter of fact Doom killed all of the all of the Celestials with the IG in the Secret Wars what if #1. I mean I understand it's a what if but the entire point suggest the course of events that would have occurred IF the decision or outcome was different. Also defeating the Beyonder is my least favorite of Dooms feats. It was clever and makes sense as much as a comic can but being tricked into losing the power seems a little anti-Doom-esque.. The way Doom loses power consistently is just stupid sometimes. Even after the Master of Doom storyline they completely ignore the powerup he got from his experience. I agree with Thanos managing the power better.

That is why I thought it was a power up. He had the power one minute then didn't have it the next. Thanks for clearing that up. They did that with Thanos also. One minute he can't be killed, the next he is being beat up by a tree(Groot). i see why people get mad at marvel. My personal favorite Doom prep is against Tchalla. He outsmarted Tchalla, the guy who preps for everything, in every way possible. When you have TCHALLA asking DEADPOOL for help.....you are in over your head.

haha agreed. I'm intrigued to see how Thanos does in the upcoming Marvel movies. He should overpower them even as a team so I hope Marvel doesn't screw him over to make him a joke. I know they took Extremis and Bleeding Edge from Ironman to make him more like his movie version. T'challa is probably my favorite hero in Marvel. I am liking what I'm hearing about Doctor Strange. I can't wait to see what happens next with him.

I'm sure he will. I wish they'd buy the Marvel rights back to the Fantastic Four. Michael Fassbender was a badass as Magneto. I would like for them to buy back the rights and cast him a badass! It's gotten so sad that I'm actually looking forward to the Lego Marvel games. Hopefully Doom and Thanos will be playable and atleast somewhat fun.

I have always seen Thanos to be a better schemer than Dr. Doom, like the way Magus pointed out, there is no bigger schemer than Thanos. He seems to have bigger ambitions.

I for one dont understand why Thanos being written by Starlin has anything to do with it, after all Starlin has written most of his stories, that should have no bearing on the feats.

Personally i would take Thanos over Doom in most encounter, but in a lopsided encounter as this, with Doom having prep and Thanos not, the fight is pretty much made for Doom to win.

I've never understood why people think Doom beat the Marquis of Death. If anything, he failed miserably even with millenia of prep. Doom spends millions of years building up his power to the point where he can kill a Watcher, and even then by his own admission the Marquis' power dwarfed his by a mile. Failing to find his own way of depowering the Marquis, he waits for Reed Richards to reduce Wyncham to a powerless husk (with less than a hour of prep, if that), steps in to deliver the killing blow, and then claims that was his plan the whole time. His plan for defeating the Marquis of Death was to stand back and watch Reed Richards defeat the Marquis of Death because he couldn't do it himself. That feat doesn't exactly scream prep master. It's taking the adage "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" and inflating it to ludicrous proportions. Literally the only thing that suggests someone could regard it as an incredible prep feat for Doom is his mere claim that Reed beating the Marquis was the result of the two of them being Doom's pawns the whole time. This is more than likely a classic example of the most prominent facet of Doom's personality: the arrogant jackass. At face value, the immediate inference is that Doom let someone else do what he couldn't because their actions suited his own needs.

I mean, this is the guy who had the Infinity Gauntlet, created his own universe, lost it to some fodder demons, and then tried to brush it off with some guff about how he felt godhood was "beneath him" after Reed and Valeria came to rescue him from captivity. An unwillingness to accept any kind of inadequacy on his own part is perfectly in character for Victor.

As for Thanos, I've never regarded his HOTU-acquiring feat as something impressive prep-wise ------ he basically stumbled upon it by accident without even knowing what he was looking for. The Defenders were accompanying Thanos on that trip. If one of them, say Namor, had wandered off and managed to find the room with the HOTU, I doubt any of us would be holding that up as an example of Namor the prep master.

Doom never defeated MOD, all he did was let MOD fight Reed and Cylde before he became MOD. After MOD was broken down, powerless, Doom shows up and gloat.

The first them Doom and MOD fought, that was a random encounter where Doom got humiliated, Latveria destroyed, him bfr across time.

There are 2 instance to compare from Dr. Doom and Thanos:

1. Infinity Wars - Dr. Doom with Kang sneaked into Magus laire and fought Magus and was doing well, but became inconsequential when LT switched the power of gauntlet on. It was then made clear that Thanos was the reality's only hope. It was Thanos who stood against Magus in the end and with help of Adam Warlock he was defeated.

2. Marvel Universe The End: where the reality was in danger , Doom plan was to go back in time and prevent this and was failing miserably, while Thanos's plan was to find the source of the power which he did. Not a clear sign, as Thanos was destined to get the HOTU, but shows the difference in perspective.

In fact Magus with multitude of cosmic cubes, with knoweledge to actually play with abstracts and gods alike as pupet takes an alternate Thanos as his stragiest saying in all of reality there is no better schemer than Thanos of Titan.

@Supermanwithatan01: I am NOT looking forward to how they treat thanos in the movies. They are nerfing him in the comic so it's not a shock when the avengers beat him in the movie. If Thanos gets one good pimp slap in then i'll be happy

Thanos's solo series is coming out in April, which should give us a good read at what his power level would be in Avengers.

I honestly think SS is on a level with Thanos, just a whole load of PIS and CIS besetting Surfer to making it clear that Thanos is on par with Darkseid. In a fair fight SS should be able to damage thanos... and with doom's prep should give him the win 7/10.

Thanos ftw

I know this isnt directed towards me, but i see his line of thinking. Thanos solo is pretty much an epilogue to Avengers 2 and Guardian of the Galaxy movie, thats how marvel seems to be treating it, given when they are publishing it. Kind of makes sense they would copy the same power level in the movie, wouldnt you think?
