How fast does Dr. Manhattan think? I can't remember him demonstrating any sort of super speed. If fact I'd wager that his prophetic view of life prevents him from going too fast - he views everything simultaneously which leads him to act in a slow and calculated way (Um, he is weighed down by the knowledge of time? That kind of thing).
He was also deconstructed by the atom separator (did he reform or did he have a second version of himself elsewhere? And if he did reform, remember it did take him a bit of time and it pissed him off mightily - it probably wasn't a pleasant experience for Dr. Manhattan) and while an infinite mass punch isn't exactly similar in its properties it is all energy at the end of the day and an IMP, considering the infinite mass part, is no doubt more powerful. Hell, slow time enough and *only* hitting harder than superman is PIS.
Basically, why is it so clear cut? Dr. Manhattan is slow and Zoom hits infinitely hard. Zoom can dodge (or outrun) anything that gets thrown at him and Dr. Manhattan isn't particularly durable (see atom separator brackets).

I don't think his vision works like that - he doesn't predict the future - he has already 'lived' it. Basically while he knows what he is going to do he can't act on that because he has already performed that action or what have you. At any given moment he is doing everything he will ever do - his mind exists outside time... blah, blah etc. Thats why it is exclusive to his future; you can't do stuff when you are dead.

yes zoom loses this fight, but wins SS, darkseid, thanos and some others he has been in that are not total spite threads.
A skyfather leveler is someone who ranks high enough to consistently beat the likes of Superman or Sentry with ease, they are basically High Gods with some divine powers and reality manipulation. Examples would be Ego, Doctor Fate, Zeus etc you could also include PC Darkseid, he's tough enough to stomp both Superman and Sentry at the same time but the modernized Jobberseid might not be able to rank in here

But surely Manhattan has to get up there in the first place? I'm under the impression that he walks about his business on earth. And all those things (boiling lead, sucking the air from the atmosphere) take time, perhaps but a millisecond but that’s a looong time for zoom. Even then, Zoom is too fast to be effected by boiling molten lead and breathing apparatus isn't exactly uncommon :P I'll concede that I'm not sure how you 'kill' Dr Manhattan, but he can be hurt and Zoom can quite easily muster the energy to take Dr. Manhattan down to his base atoms. Perhaps he can go further - and it’s not like he can’t outrun a nuclear explosion. Oh by the way, did he ever turn one element into another? For example water into gold - that kind of thing. I can only remember him shaping matter, not changing it.
I'm going too much into it. Oh and I'm no fan boy; zoom may well lose some of these 'spite threads' (what is a spite thread?) but I don't think this is one of them.
@Wrigglybear Zoom cannot kill Manhattan for the simple reason that Manhattan doesn't need a body to survive. Zoom could destroy his body rather easily, but M will still exist as energy and still be more than capable of retaliating. With nothing to hit, Zoom cannot win, and it's just a matter of time before Manhattan takes him out. He can just blow up the planet and be done with it.

It's a title that denotes the leader and the most powerful of a particular pantheon of Gods. e.g. Odin, Zeus, Highfather, Darkseid (when not written by Jeph Loeb) and others. We take for granted that most skyfathers are relatively similar in power, hence skyfather level.
Manhattan is not affected by attacks of physical nature, and despite Zoom's capability of punching him as many times as he wishes, far before he could hope to react, that would still be in vain. Manhattan wins this.

Dr M almost got himself blitzed and totally outsmarted by Ozy and Ozy isn't really that fast or that smart compared to some of the characters in DC universe
Before Dr M can make a move Zoom basically has all year to get himself a tachyon gun to blast Dr M away....that's if Zoom happens to know Dr M's weakness
