These are the two threads of this currently available, but unfortunately they don't allow both characters here to be at their best. A certain amount of prep time is specified for a fight there, and that isn't how John Constantine operates. Instead I'll be making a thread where they're both hunting each other and can prep as they like, without the need for an actual fight.

Rules:

Both characters have their full resources available and are at the height of their powers. They want to take the other down to matter what. This is Earth-616 Doctor Doom and Hellblazer Constantine. They can use any connections or resources to take the other down, and once one of them can no longer compete the scenario is won. They both start with only the name of their opponent.

Op is pretty vague so I'll be operating under the assumption that height of their powers DOESN'T refer to God Doom, or other cosmic versions. Doctor doom has been said at mutiple points to be a good enough sorcerer to be S. Supreme. Couple that wih his intellect, tech and full resources of Lateveria behind him? John has no chance.

@lubub55: I haven't read nearly enough of Hellblazer to comment here. I'm only at the Fear Machine arc (around issue 20). And so far, John's best feats that I've read are trapping a city level hunger demon (Mnenmoth) which he had Papa Midnights help for, and beating Nergal the first time through prep (tricked him into approaching heaven, thus causing him to get annihilated). So I can't comment here anymore beyond that.

@lubub55: I'm not very familiar with John Constantine. What are his top feats? Does he really outclass Doom?

@lubub55: I'm still on Jamie Delanos material. It's some great stuff so far. The Newcastle Incident was some phenomenal writing

@blackestnight93: I've started re-reading Hellblazer earlier.

@lubub55: I dropped the newer material, mostly due to the abyssmal art of the latest series. From what I've read of the Vertigo material so far, it's far and above anything for post-flashpoint John. I haven't read as much of Hellblazer as I want to, mostly due to reading other things and just not having the motivation to spend a good chunk of time just reading comics lol

@blackestnight93: New 52 Constantine is shit. They butchered his character and just made him a spellcaster. You don't get better than Vertigo Hellblazer.

@lubub55: Pretty much. Although I've heard the last 50 or so issues of Hellblazer aren't exactly good either

@blackestnight93: I never made it to the end, unfortunately. Three-hundred issues is quite a lot.

@blackestnight93: The art in the newer comics are abysmal? Hellblazer has some of the most outdated art in the history of comics.

How is Constantine winning? Doom is close to Strange with the magic, has Stark level tech and he is even smarter than Constantine. So its magic vs magic but the other one is already way out of the ballpark.

Doom wins IMO.

Doom at the height of his power is God Doom so he stomps.

If it was regular doom at his peak Constantine would win via The Laughing Magicians.

@monsterstomp: I suppose it comes down to a matter of preference. I don't mind the art in the vertigo material, personally. The newer art reminds me of something out of a shoujo manga, which just isn't my cup of tea, especially when it comes to someone like Constantine

Constantine, IMO. He's just too clever. DCnU Constantine probably has better feats than Vertigo's.

Both are the best at pulling shit out of their ass, so flip a coin?
