Unless we count Maiu's statements in his song, Hercules should win no prob.

Even if we do the best "feat" he has is Star level i guess and he heavily depends on his Hook. Defeating the titans is more impressive than anything in the song I think.

Its the weight of the tornado and everything inside and how far he threw all that weight that matters but anyway it doesn't matter that much. If Maui loses his hook hes in trouble

Even considering that throwing said weight into space is impressive, the sun weighs quintillions, upon quintillions, upon quintillions of tons. Just moving that at all is ridiculous.

Of course, this statement is not in line with his actual feats. On screen he is probably below a 100-tonner. So his sun statement is probably a hyperbole or some divine magic was involved.

Regardless, while Hercules is way stronger feat wise, he is a one trick pony. Maui is more versatile due to his shape shifting, plus he is a lot faster and more dexterous. Plus, I don't remember Herc having any slashing/piercing resistance feats, just blunt force.

Not picking a side, I just think Maui is being undersold a tad.

The sun in the mythology was closer to earth and smaller then the earth however a more quantifiable feat is pulling the islands from the bottom of the sea the biggest one is the north island of new Zealand

As for the sun, it would also have been moving 4x faster, but where did the smaller thing come from? Honest question.

Maui also lifted the sky higher if we wanna count that feat, whereas hercules "only" supported the weight. But, Maui had help from his father.

I haven't watched hercules recently enough to call this though, and the song at the end of Moana is kinda offensive, so I can't really comment on the battle. Just pointing out that the writers used a compsite version of Maui, who is a demigod all across Polynesia, from Hawaii to New Zealand.

Some clarification on why Hawaii would be more impressive than New Zealand for fishing the Islands:

The Hawaiian islands were all formed from a single Volcano which sits under the Pacific plate. As the tetonic plate moves, the island over the volcano shifts, and a new hole is punched through...meaning dragging up all the islands at once and connecting them would have necessitated first dragging the Pacific plate over the correct location, then ripping the islands from it and connecting them together.

Herc Man way stronger

Hercules. His feats in the movie alone are more than enough to grant him the win, he also has done some crazy things in the TV series iirc...but that was a long time ago and don't remember much from it.....

The gods in Hercules casually create a constellations. Hercules at the end essentially became the strongest God. Maui did pull the sun but beating beings who casually create constellations is something totally different.

I think you guys are forgetting how easily fooled Hercules is in his own Myths. He's not quite Thor dumb, but he's definitely no Odysseus, if you know what I'm saying. Maui is primarily a Trickster God within the Polynesian Islands Pantheon. He mightn't be as strong as Herc in feats, but he definitely outsmarts him and that could make a huge difference in any fight.
