Dean always wins unless extraneous circumstances are involved. He stomps Sam regularly.

Maybe I'm just not remembering stuff, but can someone clue me in on when Dean has stomped Sam in fights without intervening context?

Dean has always impressed me more.Sam has better physique but Dean seems like he has more skills.

I don't know what season it was, but it ended with Sam beating Dean. In the next episode, Sam woke up, tied to a chair, lol.

Dean has never "stomped" Sam. More times than not, he's always won their fist fights but Sam has gotten the better of him during the end of season four when he was cranked on demon blood, ready to take on Lilith.

Dean has owned Sam more times than Sam has owned Dean. Dean wins barely.

Depends current Sam goes down easily against Dean in a proper fight since he been getting beat alot more easily now than before but past seasons Sam vs Dean I still say Dean but barley.

Sam is bigger stronger and healthier, this final season Dean even admitted that Sam is pretty much better than him at everything except a game of pool. That said Dean is the older brother who always handles shit when only he can. And it’s been that way for the last 15 years so I don’t see him losing a majority.

I’m only on episode 13 of this last season though so no spoilers past that please.

Eh, depends on what season. But I could make a good case for either winning. Especially if this is Composite versions. Maybe. Composite may be a bit too much actually.

@saren: The times when Sam managed to take out Dean was when he had hax (lucifer, psychic demon blood) but without them, he got utterly destroyed by Dean; Season 1 episode 1 itself had Dean knockdown Sam.

Season 1, episode 6: It was technically not Dean but a shapeshifter, shapeshifters inherit the memories of the one they shapeshift to and one took Dean's force, bested Sam with ease. This is a guy who never saw as much combat as Dean and in his skin, despite being inexperienced and only having the memories of Dean, he managed to best Sam. This indicates that Dean holds back on Sam but Dean is not only better but WAY better.

S01E10: Sam is brainwashed by a ghost and Dean bests him.

S02E14: A demon possessed Sam and despite his enhance strength, he still lost and Dean captured him.

S04E14: Dean was brainwashed and won.

S04E21: Dean one-punched Demon Blood Sam and still knocked him out.

S06E06: He brutally manhandled Soulless Sam who is the Sam without any filter and was fighting for over a year despite Dean leading a normal life. A rusty Dean basically beats Sam at his best.

S06E11: Again, one punch from Dean (not even a sucker punch, outright in front of Soulless Sam's view).

etcetera.

Also, Dean's hax would utterly destroy every other hax of Sam (as Apocalypse Michael, he had already defeated Lucifer).

@wildvine: Dean overpowered Michael (the same Michael from Apocalypse world who is much more powerful than any version of Lucifer), not only that but he also ejected Michael which is much more impressive. Sam only came as far as overpowering an Archangel, Dean freaking EJECTED one and not just one but the most powerful of them.

@deactivated-5a89ca5697052: Ok, Sam's intelligence comes from exploiting weaknesses of MONSTERS. That is easy to find, humans do not have much weaknesses themselves, Sam rarely fought any human as much as Dean did, therefore his intelligence won't help him here, Dean is much more experienced and therefore has better "battle" IQ, it is Dean who always comes up with the most intuitive decision, Sam almost always goes by the books but a fight would require them to react quick which Sam won't be able to magically read a book in between. Dean wins this, he is much more experienced and has fought more humans than Sam as well as the fact that Dean's street smart is comparable to being a "genius", he is the MacGyver of the show. He does not need formal education as his intelligence is layered with spatial, logical and mechanical aspects; these are intelligence that are helpful in a fight, not the ability to read books. When you said Sam is smarter, you did not say in what and what he is smart in won't necessary be helpful against Dean.

@allstarsuperman: He always said Sam was better than him, doesn't mean it is a fact, he is just saying that in a way to express that he is proud of Sam. Those are normative statements, not positive statements. That is how every mentor inspires their apprentice by pretending they are doing better than they actually are to boost their motivation, like a lion pretending to be hurt by its cubs.

Anyhow, my answer is clearly that Dean wins this. Easy choice tbh.

Dean would win overall, he has best Sam more than Sam has bested him and in the few time that Sam has bested Dean, he needed hax (demon blood). Even if we were talking about their composite version, Dean would still win:

Apocalypse Michael in a weaker vessel was able to defeat the main Lucifer and Lucifer from his world, Dean is Michael's sword, Michael is way more powerful in Dean's vessel. So he'd easily destroy Sam when he is Lucifer which is Sam's most powerful version yet and all of Sam's other hax. And Dean with the Mark defeated Abaddon who is significantly more powerful than Psychic/Demon Blood Sam, Sam's psychic abilities would have no effect on Dean with the Mark of Cain.

Morals off? That was the only thing preventing Dean from ripping Sam's head off instead of just knocking him out.
