Darth Maul vs Kit Fisto (Head-to-Head)

I have recently acquired some of the Head-to-Head books by Pablo Hidalgo. So I wanted to discuss them here on the battle boards.

Next up:

Winner: Kit Fisto

From the description, it sounds like this is TPM Maul vs ROTS Kit.

Why do they have Maul's Intelligence so low and Fisto's damage so high?

@thevivas: I wondered that myself. Maul acted primarily as Sidious' assassin, so the rating for his intelligence is odd.

Ah, I am assuming they think Maul is some sort of arrogant, good-for-nothing strategist like 90% of YouTube?

@wollfmyth: If by they you mean Pablo Hidalgo ... then yes. This book seems to be more of an editorial piece. Less fact. But that's why I brought it here! We can discuss and counter what we think on the matter. I'll be posting more battles tomorrow night. I just didn't want to flood the boards with all these battles so quickly.

The intelligence, damage, and courage levels are completely ridiculous.

Darth Maul is extremely intelligent when it comes to combat, as he manipulated the Duel of Fates to separate Qui-Gon and Obi-wan through the Plasma refinery. That's not even including all the feats to his intelligence related to taking down the Black sun and crippling Bando Gorra, all of which happened even before the Phantom Menace. While Kit Fisto isn't stupid of course, his tendency to lose himself in battle fervor negates much of any opportunity to implement strategic thinking.

Damage is also wrong. Maul has ripped apart wampas and varactyls with his bare hands, and implemented extremely powerful physical strikes into his combative style. His force attacks are also incredibly devastating, as he has repeatedly snapped bones with force crushes and blasted enemies with TK.

I don't even understand what they're trying to convey with the courage category. Is Fisto somehow more brave than Maul? That's a weird assumption. Especially considering the absolutely insane lifestyle Maul lived throughout his entire life. Being constantly beaten, starved, left alone to be hunted by assassin droids, murdering, etc lol. Such a weird category and inference, it really should have been left out entirely.

Fisto certainly doesn't keep his cool like they are implying too. He is very wild combatant with a very erratic and unpredictable fighting style; it's almost as if they are implying he is some sort of fencer-type fighter like a Makashi specialist.

I LOVE Fisto, and I'm honestly not a fan of Maul. But Maul takes this 7/10 times, and that's being generous.

Darth Plagueis remarked that his combative style (which incorporates several combat forms) has been said to be mastered Pre-PTM, and his feats in killing Bondara and Jinn are easily more impressive than anything Kit has accomplished, though Fisto certainly has some decent feats. While Fisto's martial skill could be argued to be on par with Maul's, I simply believe the Zabrak's to be much more effective and flexible over all.

Force powers, Maul easily has the edge with his insane TK. As far as TK goes, Kit Fisto is pretty standard unless he is underwater, which I am assuming he won't be.

I don't think any argument needs to be given as to why Maul is easily more physically imposing.

So yeah, Maul takes this in a majority. But I love Fisto

Any version of Maul would most certainly win. I always hated the idea of giving Jedi/Sith stat ratings. So arbitrary...

Kit Fisto as a Shii-Cho user, a poor duelist by its nature, winning against even the inferior version of Maul (TPM Maul) is the same level stupidity with Vader winning against Yoda. That thing is for 9-12 age kids, not worthy of debate because it's not presenting any valuable data other than the combatants appearance, and it's also contradicting with the actual canon.

I tend to take these kinds of head to head versus books and stuff with a grain of salt. Generally they don't follow proper feats as eastablished in the EU and basically collect a bunch of stats based from the films or any other G or T canon sources. While I understand Pablo did play a role in the shaping of the Legends canon, I don't think he really analysed feats etc when creating these.

Anyway, Maul wins.

For shame Pablo. You are dead wroooooong.

Maul ought to be more agile than Fisto....

Speed (agility / mobility) is the only area that Fisto can compete with Darth Maul, because Fisto is also extremely fast in comparison with his Jedi friends, he lacks dueling skills, strength, and the Force powers to compete with TPM Maul.

@erkan12: But from what I saw in the movies it seems that Maul is more agile. Kit Fisto couldn't even dodge a single stroke from Palpatine.

That honestly doesn't mean anything; because Sidious is the top dog of Star Wars, and has insane levels of speed and skill which are practically unrivalled in the PT era bar Yoda.

Maul 6/10. Like legit what the hell are those ratings. Maul's intelligence level lol. U mean getting trained by a person who deceived the Jedi council for years isn't intelligent. Best ratings ever

Maul had the agility to nearly beat two Jedi at once. IDK if there are any of Fisto's speed feats in comics but from the movies alone it seems that Maul is faster.

Well, as being said, he did far better than other Jedi masters in front of Palpatine, and he was also running faster than his Jedi friends in the geonosian arena, if it means anything in terms of movie feats though.

This is dumb. Maul is a physical powerhouse and strategic master, could we honestly say anyone but Maul could start with no resources, no real name, and a need to stay invisible and still rise to be a ruler of a planet, then lose that and become a leader of 3 underground organizations?
