• This is Darth Maul circa TCW
• Standard equipment (a single lightsaber)
• Naturally, morals off – Maul’s default in most battles
• There will be two Rounds:

a. Canon

b. EU/Legends

The Gauntlet:

1. Asaaj Ventress (TCW)

2. General Grievous (ROTS)

3. Obi-Wan Kenobi (ROTS)

4. Quinlan Vos (DD)

5. Darth Vader (ROTJ)

6. Count Dooku (ROTS)

How far does he get?

Notice on Legends round

• Seen as though the pre Disney acquisition LFL hierarchy system (G canon, C canon etc) was phased out as early as 2012 (per Leland Chee), it will not apply here. Therefore, G canon will not have supremacy. Although Lucas is still a filmmaker so his WoG can apply when it pertains to his own films, but not the wider verse
• In Legends, sources can be weighed equally but given that CV is a feats oriented website, it can be assumed that people will debate on who has the better feats. That said, scaling chains, in universe logic/intent and accolades can still counter balance
• In case it isn't obvious, content such as lego SW, alternate endings/DLC, crossovers with other universes etc aren't allowed

Vader should be below Dooku in canon..but Maul probably stops at Dooku both rounds.

Potentially can clear to be honest. And I don't think Vader is the most troublesome opponent for Maul here, considering that Vader has some serious mobility and agility issues in front of high level opponents, and Maul is one of the best in terms of agility, alongside with Dark Disciple Vos in this order.

I would put Vader to round 3 or 4, and Maul can make it up to the last round or clears in a very decent battles.

Canon: Stops at Vos

EU: Dooku

GG, Obi or Dooku can stop him. More than likely Dooku.

Canon: Probs Obi-Kenobi

Legends: Grevious could stop him, but if he does get past him, probably Dooku.

Stops at Obi-Wan or Darth Vader

Canon: probably stops at dooku.

Legends: stops at Vader.

Stops at Quinlan, but beats Vader, and stops at Dooku again.

Should stop at Obi from Eu I think.

And on this topic Maul should make it to Vader.

Maul can make it to Vader.

Canon: Stops at Quinlan Vos.

Legends: Darth Vader should be above Dooku here. And stops at Dooku.

He can possibly clear it, but there are several rounds that are up in the air. And if I had to conclusively say that he would stop at any round, it would be against Vader or Dooku. As for a round by round wins/loss ratio:

1. Asaaj Ventress (TCW): Maul wins 7-8/10

2. General Grievous (ROTS): Split, with a possible leaning in Maul's favor if he abuses his TK.

3. Obi-Wan Kenobi (ROTS): Maul wins 8/10

4. Quinlan Vos (DD): No idea. Never read Dark Disciple.

5. Darth Vader (ROTJ): Highly arguable, but in my opinion, Vader could win around 6-7/10.

6. Count Dooku (ROTS): Also highly arguable, but Dooku wins 6/10.

I would switch Kenobi and Quinlan Vos. If Vos is round 3 instead of Kenobi then he can definitely make it through 3, and POSSIBLY make it through 4 but that's iffy. He's not beating Vader or Dooku. He's a better physical and saber combatant than either of them, but his lack of willingness to use the force is going to cost him those battles.

EU stops at Vader

Canon (skipping over Vos, because, well, f&*% him): Stops at Kenobi.

Legends: Same. Stops at Kenobi.

@holocron24: I know Obi-Wan defeats him in the film but taht is stupid given both of their skill. In Canon Maul beats Vader, fails at Dooku not canon he loses to Vader.

How come? I'd imagine it more being an even split or a slight lean towards Maul.

@wollfmyth209: Mostly because Maul outclasses Obi-Wan with the Force and has a better track record against him overall. In TCW, Obi-Wan never did anything better than roughly stalemate Maul, while Maul has taken the edge on other occasions. He has down Obi-Wan with the Force and was outfighting him during his and Savage's duel with Obi-Wan and Ventress. Not to mention, Maul's skill feats just impress me more overall. Also, if I'm not mistaken, didn't Maul continue to increase in power and skill as time passed during TCW, or did I imagine that?

You'd be correct. He was restored to his "former power" when Talzin healed him, and other sources claim the ordeal of being bisected and exiled left him more powerful. In Shadow Conspiracy it states that events like him training at the Umbara Shadow Academy, and taking Savage as his apprentice lead to him becoming more powerful as well over time.

This is what I was referring to specifically. I was aware that after his tenure on Lotho Minor and his revival under Talzin, his power grew, but I was certain there was something indicating that Maul's powers were continuing to grow all through TCW. Thanks, ILS.

The reason I brought that up at all is because when Maul and Savage dueled Obi-Wan and Ventress and then Obi-Wan and Adi Gallia, that was Maul before his peak condition in TCW's storyline. So I think the Maul in the Lawless or Son of Dathomir, for instance, is more formidable than the Maul Obi-Wan had previously dueled. In fairness, Obi-Wan's abilities also progressed until RotS, where he was at his relative best, but I still maintain Maul taking a majority over RotS Obi-Wan.

kenobi is being so under rated, dude solo'd both maul and his brother, beat him when he was a wreck, and maul's only win vs a near peak was kenobi was after him and his brother ambushed him, and beat him

@silver2467: Good points. I'm sort of dying to see where Maul goes after SoD in terms of power; is he going to get even more powerful, or stagnate? Logically and from a preference standpoint I'd like to see the former.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed SoD never gave us some kind of closure for Maul's storyline, but on the other hand, it does leave some open-ended potential for future use. So I guess I can't complain.

Stops at Vader

Canon might stop at Kenobi or DD Vos, doesn't get past Vader or Tyranus. Though Vader should be above Dooku in canon.

Legends might stop at RotS Kenobi, Vader, or Tyranus. He beats DD Vos though.

i think maul stops at RoTS obi wan more often than not .
his style is tailor made for aggresive opponents like maul or MF vader
obi wans soresu is masterful so unless maul exploits some weakness in obi wans force defense
he would make a mistake in a duel sooner or later .

Stops at 3, although Maul ( while enraged) is superior to tcw Kenobi, ROTS Kenobi is just more impressive than Maul. If he menages to beat Kenobi he stops at 5.

while i agree dooku wins 10/10 it would certainly not be a walk in a park for a count .

@dark_globe: It would be. He already "effortlessly" defended against Kenobi+Anakin in ROTS who are far more powerful than Maul as a duo.

@arkhamasylum3: Kenobi alone is better than Maul honestly. However, Dooku wasn’t defending himself effortlessly,at least not after the two started using their primary styles.

yeah they are that is why he was forced to dispatch obi wan and got himself exhausted in the process
only to be killed by anakin later in the fight . all the while he was "effortlessly" defending .
effortless defending on dookus part against this duo happened in AoTC but not in RoTS .

also you have to take personal styles of those fighters into account as well .
mauls aggresive style would press dooku much more than obi wan with his defensive soresu .
obi wan is much more suited to face maul than he is to face dooku .
also dooku can´t just ragdoll maul in the middle of the fight (at least not legends maul)

he would win but he would have to work for it .

Legends? Stops at ROTJ Vader. TPM Maul may have defeated ANH Vader, but Vader's growth time between ANH and ROTJ is longer than Maul's growth between TPM and TCW.
