*Duel takes place on neutral ground
*Composite Depa with Canon/Legends feats/accolades
@richard96: @greysentinel365: you both have two conflicting opinions...interesting.
@richard96: nah, I'd say he's well-respected, these days.
@richard96: not anymore, he doesn't.
@richard96: considering that Depa Billaba has technical skill rivaling, or perhaps even equal to, Mace Windu, claiming that she surpasses Malak shouldn't be viewed as the fan base holding Malak in low esteem.
@richard96: her control of Vapaad isn't as good as Mace's, but her technical skill with the form is, as corroborated by Shatterpoint.
@richard96: have you read Shatterpoint?
@richard96: I'm referring to the book.
@richard96: so why are you making claims about Depa, when you haven't even read the book in which she's a leading character?
@richard96: Mace credits Depa as a superior duelist than him in that book.
@richard96: I didn't say Depa > Mace. There's more to dueling than technical skill. (Augmentation, style match up etc etc)
Mace stated that Depa technical skill with Vaapad surpassed his own. Now of course Dooku, Mace and Yoda are objectively stated as the best duelists in the entire old order (including KOTOR era).
However it is still a hefty accolade even in universe. It should be enough to say she's at least Malak's better with a blade. And her sense abilities are said to be second only to Yoda. Which speaks to great potential.
@richard96: That's due more to her obscurity than anything else.
Just read this, since you can't read my comments properly

@richard96: no, Greysentinel was paraphrasing Mace, not declaring Depa as the superior duelist. And she is by no means the greatest on the Council. As Grey noted, Mace, Dooku and Yoda are objectively noted as the greatest duelists of their age.
Anakin and Obi-Wan are also labelled as being peers (and perhaps even superior to) Mace and Dooku, so they also surpass her. And in my own opinion, I'd say Agen Kolar can match her, too.
@richard96: Malak is also inferior to the ones I listed.
@richard96: in what way?
Mace did state in Shatterpoint that Depa's skill with a blade and Vaapad surpassed his own. Granted, Mace is still the more powerful Force user, he also has more experience, and he is more mentally stable than Depa. This is why he was the Master of the Order.
This is an interesting fight.
Not sure atm cus I'm too busy leaving for a Uni class and being ill so I'll give it a think.
@richard96: To be honest, she hasn't many feats, as she was not featured prominently. In instances like this, we have to go by accolades. I'm not casting a vote one way or the other, but if this is composite Depa,, we have to take Mace's quote into account.
@richard96: Agen stomping Quinlan Vos while holding back and being a peer of Mace > losing to a pre-prime Revan on a powerful dark side nexus, which amplified you but hindered Revan.
@greysentinel365: didn't Belinda end up losing that duel, despite it being on a darkside nexus and mace being injured?
@kbroskywalker: IIRC Mace admitted he would lose, but the duel ended inconclusively when Depa fell into a coma.
She was driving Mace back and filling his whole vision her blade though.
Depa Billaba because she can defend Malak's offensive only assault, and then exploit an opening in Malak's weak guard, and cut him down.
@greysentinel365: From what I remember, that was before mace fully gave himself to vapaad's darkness and his mental hindrance due to fighting his appretince. I'll try and find an excerpt of the fight for confirmation
@richard96: right, so I take it you've not read the RotS novel, too.
