Who wins and why
Annihilus has the cosmic control rod
Darkseid wins. It would have been a bit more interesting if Annihilus had the Quantum Bands here, though...
@chad_duby:That was a Hulked out version of Annihilus that replicated Bruce Banner's gamma experiment to boost his own power. It's not his standard form and he was returned to normal at the end of that series.
@saren: No, he remained the same until Warlock turned him to a little bug so Thanks stepped on him.
His death ended that form, he reappeared in ANAD later in his older, smaller form after resurrection.
Darkseid easily. Physically Annihilus is somewhat stronger than the Thing at best.
In fact I should revise my previous statement, because Annihilus's appearance in ANAD had probably his best feat without the Quantum Bands or other amps ever - stalemating Jane-Thor. Still wouldn't beat Darkseid though.
@saren: That is still not weak either. It wrestled with Jane who can smack around Odin.
Jane smacking around Odin is just PIS. Odin could literally blink her out of existence if he wanted to, and he was casually ragdolling Thor in Fear Itself.
@saren: Well, I am not trying to say that Annihilus would beat Darkseid. I disagreed that stronger than being Ben Grimm is the the best for Annihilus.
The hammer gives more power to Jane than both Thor and Odin so it is logically to say that Odin getting physically owned by Jane is not PIS and Thor is weaker than Jane.

Prior to Annihilation, Annihilus's best feats were KO'ing people like Ben Grimm and She-Hulk. After that he got a bunch of amps that hung around for a while and then went away, and if anything his base physical strength was lowered without the Cosmic Control Rod - he was literally put on a leash and made a housepet by Johnny Storm when he lost the CCR.
Odin is a guy who's destroyed galaxies and wrestled with Galactus, in the past he's neutralized Mjolnir just by ordering it to drop. The whole story was just Aaron wanking his new character.
@saren: I don't think Johnny lucking into the CCR is a low-end feat - with it, Annihilus tanked the nova blast and killed the Torch casually under the same writer. He also took on Waid's Avengers by himself and was stalemating Jane for a while, with her weakening while he could keep up. Ben isn't holding his own against Iron Man, Jane and Vision at the same time, whether it's Aaron's Jane or the more grounded version we got in other books.
Regular Annihilus wouldn't beat Darkseid but he'd make a decent sport out of it, post-Annihilation. If it's the Thanos v Hulk Annihilus, he could take it.
@morpheus_: I mean it was a nerfing for Annihilus to be completely powerless without the CCR - in earlier eras, he's OHKO'd Johnny even without the rod, whereas under Hickman he was a servile bug. I actually hadn't read his ANAD Avengers appearances before this thread. The previous times Annihilus has fought Thor or the Avengers involved prep and Negative Zone tech.
