Pretty much as the title says....
Who is smarter tactically?

Wasn't Bane giving Ra's a run for his money when they played chess?
Yes. Gonna be honest and say I made this thread to gauge cyclops tactical ability....I believe cyclops has shown great tactical thinking against a lot of x-men villains however for what its worth.

This would be a really good match. A REALLY good match. Honestly, i think it would be so close that you would have to do a best 3 of 5 to see who takes the majority. One game wouldn't be enough In my opinion.
This seems pretty fair.
In a single match my vote goes to Cyclops. Strategizing is kind of his thing.
Cyclops is very tactical. Considering he's come up with 44 plans give or take to deal with just Kuurth alone. Trojan Horsing Wolverine to stop the united vampire nations, resurrect Dracula and stop his son and then proceed to possibly bluff the vampire king. Embarrass Norman Osborn, get Asteroid M, free the mutant prisoners and sanctify Utopia as a sacred territory while dealing with the Dark Avengers all in a relatively short period of time. Not saying Cyclops wins, but he isn't one to be underestimated in strategics..

Chess is not a game of Intellect so much as it is a game of practice. If you dont know the moves you cant counter them. I would think that bane has played more chess than cyclops.. but you never know
I'm reasonably sure that chess game with Ra's was the only on-panel instance of Bane playing the game, although it was implied that he's been playing or practicing it for several years prior to that. On the other hand, although Bane might have played more chess, he hasn't had any formal training in the game; he created a chess maneuver in his prison cell, and when he used it against Ra's, he was informed that it was a very famous pre-existing move. Bane didn't know it existed. I suppose it says something that he can independently create chess strategies that are good enough to be used by masters of the game, but when you learn chess, you're taught many different positional plays. Bane never received that education, so I suppose you could call him a highly talented amateur.

That's like saying philosophy is a matter repeating things that other people have said. Practice is important to any game and any sport, but to say that intellect is not is just plain wrong.
Leader of the X-men vs a mad scientist, great thread idea
I'm going with Cyclops, if the Professor trusts him with his team there has to be a good reason. He could have found any mutant in the world and he picked Scott
