@eobard21:

no he cant. Flash time feat isnt even close to a match for that. He had a couple of short conversation with two flash team members and ran across the city and back again with another speedster in flash time. Across a city is at most a few hundred km. So by comparison that's like at most going across country and back again in the same time Reeves Supes circled the globe once. His best feat beside that is to china and back to prison in the longer time (maybe 3 times) that of Reeves Supes circling the globe several dozen times.

CW Flash isnt even innthe ballpark speedwise of Reeves Superman. Reeves Supes was SA superman level.

@beatboks1: LOL Reeve supes Isn't even close to sa Superman wth ? And how Flashtime isn't close to Reeve supes level ? When he made a nuke frozen for almost an entire episode ? Had time to run around the city, had multiple talks etc

Without the nuke he ran around the world and was back in like 3 seconds they're comparable in speed

And he almost went through a breach who close in picosecond too without the amp

How they're not close in speed ?

@eobard21:

Superman was 1978

Superman II 1980

Superman III 1983

COIE was 1985. Reeves Superman is in fact the live action version of SA. Even the canon of the movie supports pre crisis storyline not changed post crisis. Like being INSTANTLY depowered by red Solar radiation where post crisis Superman still had yellow energy stored until he used it. That was literally the plot point of how he made himself normal to be with Lois.

Just because flashtime went for an episode how long a time frame is that??

1. He pulled people INTO FLASHTIME with him to talk to them. So the only thing he did relative to the world was run across the city and back.The conversations are meaningless and of no substantial value as they happen in flashtime with people there with him (at a different relative time rate to the world).

2.Ergo the only thing we have to quantify his time frame by, is his run across a city. Across a city is what ar most a few hundred kms (very very generous)??? The circumference of the earth on the other hand is 40,075 km. If Barry ran all the way around Manhattan that would be about 60 km. So we have Superman covering about a 1000 times the distance as Flash Time Barry in the same time on screen.

He did not run around the world at all he ran from prison to china. Lets make it the furthest possible distances west coast USA to east coast china that's 11223 km one way so 22446km total. Less than half of one trip round the flobe and Reeves supes did many in a second not 3.

How are they close in speed

Mario Puzo specifically wrote Superman The Movie to be a silver screen adaptation of the Silver Era Superman. This was Pre Crisis/Silver Age Superman, but in his infancy and learning his power sets. Reeve Superman was a casual light speed player, pushed the entire moon out of its orbit to block out the sun, lifted multimillion ton fault lines like it was nothing, tossed a mountain like a basketball (and with perfect accuracy), easily flew from the moon back to earth in a few seconds, defied physics and proved physics do not apply to him at all in Superman Returns by moving at light speed inside the Earth's atmosphere, lifted a small island somehow (similarly to the mountain toss) without breaking it and has shown the ability like in the comics to lift large objects without his body molting through it, or it breaking around him, basically making a shield of some type to hold everything in place...and while Kryptonite was in his face, had energy projection just like shooting a laser or Kamehameha out of his hand, could teleport faster than other Kryptonians can even react or understand what is happening, could clone himself and make them intangible and showed 100% telepathic/psionic powers in lifting objects and moving them around by glancing at them...

@zuriel-el Superman in the 3rd movie is not in canon with films 1 and 4. Despite film 2 being a sequel, his feats are wildly inconsistent with the first film. Superman in movie 2 and 3 are not the same as 1, 4 and Superman Returns.

White dwarf star heat - 180,000F. Thor was almost killed by this.

Nuclear Bomb detonation of a high yield - 180,000,032. Superman in Man of Steel still wasn't incinerated. And he is literally nothing by comparison to Reeves' version.

Reeve takes this without any issue. None of them could handle a punch flying at them at legitimate light speed.

Telekenetic powers - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ezPVizHpY0

More telekenetic powers and also tossing a mountain - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5mcMmE3RL8

Using unknown means to hold heavy objects without breaking them (which he can generate in excess of the size of a mountain) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9gwnCEFKps

Teleporting, cloning himself - Gods honest, cant find the Superman vs Kryptonian final fight in the fortress from Superman 2.

Island tossing without it breaking again - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g32OeSwxPJ4

Confirmed light speed in Superman Returns is in a deleted scene, of a news report saying he was in X location and then a split second later on the other side of the planet.

Anyone who can link those two clips, I'd appreciate it.

If he can fly at light speed, he can punch you at light speed as well. Reeve is a casual light speed contender and merely holding his hand out while flying is more than sufficient. Bad fight scenes with low budgets in the 80s don't really count as legitimate when referencing someone tossing mountains and pushing the moon around like it was nothing. His durability is absurd. If you want to get technical, since he wasn't ever shown to phase and vibrate like the flash while moving fast, then you are to assume his body can sustain that insane gravity pressure that will follow when he fly's near light speed...which by all accounts, puts his durability on near incalculably high levels.

Lifting strength directly correlates to punching strength. If you can lift and toss a mountain with your arms and hold it outstretched as if it were nothing, and move so fast that other kryptonians cant see you, then you are striking with insane prowess as well. A toddler who knows how to punch properly will never strike as hard as a 30 year old weight lifter. So yes, lifting strength does revolve around striking power too.

@zuriel-el:

I’m not arguing that. At light speed levels why does it matter? If you can fly and move half way across the earth in one second, you don’t need physical striking power. That is why the flash is so powerful. Speed is all you need there. So now you have a guy who is confirmed light speed movement that can toss mountains and push the moon out of orbit like it was a balloon.

That level of strength and speed combined equates to massive striking power and that is how the physics of it works. Can anyone on the opposite team tank a 225lb frame impacting them at light speed? Because is routh can do a thing in Japan on the news clip and then stop a bank robbery literally one second later on the opposite end of the planet, Jen he can strike at light speed and the physical Impact striking potential of a man who can push the moon like he is moving a sub sandwich out of the way on a desk to grab the cookie behind it...is scary high.

Also, a fist moving at 27.8mph is gonna hurt like hell when it runs into you. You are correct. His fist wont be traveling as fast as his running speed. It would be traveling a lot faster at about 45mph. So if Reeve can fly at light speed, he can punch at nearly double that.

Avatar image for zuriel-el

@BabyMagiKarp:

he never moved that fast in a fight, he never hit that hard, even against other kryptonians.

and his strength and speed amount to his feats, this is comic vine, you cant give someone feats they never performed just because its possible with their skill set.

Did you read the article? It showed that to reverse the Earth's rotation, with a mass of 225lbs, you'd need to achieve light speed. Also, in Superman Returns, a news reporter on the screen states that Superman was across the earth doing one thing, and the time stamp as stated by the reporter on surveillance footage was one second later on the other side of the planet. So he was moving at close to light speed.

https://gfycat.com/VelvetyUltimateBrahmanbull

Yes, it was stated. And shown twice. He can move at light speed. And hit you faster than light speed. He can also lift and toss mountains and move the moon. The amount of physical strength combined with that speed far outshines anything else the others in the team ever did.

Great video on this subject - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-fL8zopddI

Some facts in case you don't watch. Supermans hand is 300grams, moving at 99% light speed, equates to 2,800x Hiroshima blast and releases 143,999,999,999,540.3F in heat, 5 million x our star. White dwarf star that almost killed Thor was far, far cooler than that at around only 180,000F. Yea...Superman can release a blast from his hand that is 799,999,999x what almost roasted Thor alive.

Thor isn't anywhere near strong enough to toss a mountain or push a moon. So Thor dies on impact and doesn't even see it coming.

CW Flash is clocked at 70million kmph or around 12x slower than light speed in season 4. This is actually confirmed. He is nowhere near Superman's speed or strength. He dies in a similar manner to a car moving at 312 miles an hour would appear racing straight toward you at point blank range. Barry might see Superman before Superman flys through Barry's body and deatomizes him. Barry dies.

Quick Silver is clocked only at 1% light speed, or Mach 11,100. That is similar to seeing something coming at you at 2900mph, or like standing on a tar mat and watching a jet scrape the ground and you are in its path. You probably might see it as a dot in your vision before you cease to exist as it rolls through you. Quick Silver dies.

Cavil Superman clocked at 2.6 million MPH. He is comedically slower than CW Flash and about 3x as fast as Quick Silver. One Nuclear bomb completely dismantled Cavil. He needs to tank 2,800x that force just to start to compete with Reeve. Can he?

Nah. Math is fun.

Barry was stuck in Flash time for the entire episode and never achieved that again so far as I am aware. And yes, he was moving at 99.9% light speed, same as what Reeve and Routh do on a casual basis.

This feat isn't really a fair usage of the power, because he can't normally do that. He was stuck in super speed mode along with another speedster, then his speed on top of that let him run that fast. Without being stuck in Flash Time, he can't move anywhere near that speed.

Neutron star heat is 1 million Kelvin, which is 1,799,540.33F. This almost burned Thor to death.

Nuclear Bomb heat is 180,000,032F. That is roughly 10x as hot. One of the weakest versions of Superman was able to survive something 10x as hot, point blank. Reeve is leagues ahead of Cavil. As I said before, Reeve Superman was the silver age version on screen, Mario Puzo stated he studied the Silver Age and wanted that version to be made into a film. So, all the absurd feats of Silver Age is what Reeves in Superman 1,2,4 and Routh's Superman Returns was capable of.
