Logically he should be able to compete with Thanos now. But i still dont buy it. I guess i hate change.

I don't know his character alot but I saw one of his respect threads. He created the symbiotes and survived the death of the universe.

I know how you feel. Marvel really has been changing alot of power levels.

Still pretty impressive. I don't know about Knull. But destroying/creating stars is very impressive for a high herald tier like Surfer but Transcendent Tier characters like Thanos or Adam Warlock can do that easily. Not sure if Surfer still wins.

"Current" Silver Surfer does not exist. He is simply a weakened Surfer with one outlier and a couple of irrelevant creation feats, who in the same run got hurt by shit he wouldn't be hurt by if he were at his full strength, and that was explicitly confirmed by Surfer himself. Thanos stomps even harder than before.

What's with this "current character X" bandwagon where an inconsistent feat/low showing for a character gets wanked to oblivion and decades of continuity get thrown out of the window? First the "mid tier Thor" circlejerk, now "teambuster Silver Surfer" wankfest. What next? Herald lvl Carol Danvers?

They haven't really made anyone weaker. More like they boosted alot of them.

The star feat, really isn't that impressive. Regular Silver Surfer and Star Dust have created black holes before, which incidentally Thanos has tanked (not theirs but another).

Surfer's weaker now tho.....smh. The whole story was him getting worse and worse (he states this multiple times)

Knull wasn't beaten either. Surfer again says that he can't beat the guy, proven further by the fact that he lost two times to Knull already and needed assistance from Ego to pick up a fight in the first place.

Thanos wins. It's literally the same result.

The Surfer always had the feats to make it a decent contest, and yet almost always got thrashed by Thanos or no-sold in direct confrontations. It's not a question of feats but of status and tiers. Thanos is simply perceived as superior to most characters of the Surfer's tier by default.

Giffen had a half-dead Surfer match Thanos' power output and unlock Galactus from imprisonment, then DnA came along and displayed just how far ahead Thanos is from any herald during Thanos Imperative and their respective fights with Lord Mar-Vell.

Chances are, if Thanos faces Surfer again, he won't have any real problems. On paper, if the Surfer fights intelligently, he could pose a challenge.

I never knew current Surfer was weakened.

@torro6: You should read the new series, it's getting rave reviews and the art is astounding.

Some of the showings are hard to describe but some of the notable feats are...

Warning Spoilers!Manipulating and sundering a black hole and creating multiple stars while weakened and depleted, he ends up creating three different stars by the end of the series and all three were created during combat, basically as attacks.

Also he has a kick-ass sword fight with Knull.

He was mostly avoiding him and biding time in his fight with Knull, he constantly said he could not win that fight, not to mention that we don't actually know how powerful Knull is or was at that point, remember that the necrosword gets more powerful the more gods it has killed, and we were at the beginning of time in this story, so it wasn't nearly as powerful as the necrosword we know now, hell, remember that young Thor was able to greatly damage Gorr when he was still relatively new with the necrosword, and we all know how much that changed over the cours of eons where Gorr kept killing gods and amassing more power.

I highly recommend you to read the series though, one of the best Surfer books.

Black Surfer still doesn't have the feats to say he could defeat Thanos.

Surfer black isn't weakened anymore since he was reborn in the final moment of the series,but all the feats he pulled while severely weakened ,no thanos cannot replicate them.. A very weakened surfer was creating stars and using them as weapons,also tank a black hole and manipulated it ,also tank ego core which is hotter than stars,also lifted Galactus incubator etc...

bump. I tend to agree with Morph, but I have ever-felt that Norrin should have the powerset to split the difference with Thanos when he's not dicking around. Unfortunately, he's never written that way and Thanos has consistently been shown to be his superior. There's nothing particularly wrong with that, but my personal preference would be for him not to forget his abilities and lose for the sake of showing Thanos superiority.
